'Chashme Baddor' Box Office Collection: David Dhawan's Film a Hit, Fetches ?25.45 Crore in India

David Dhawan's directorial venture "Chasme Baddoor", which got off to a flying start last week, emerged as one of the biggest hit films of the year.

The adult comedy, made on a budget of just ?20 crore, has raked in ?25.45 crore in just five days of its release from the domestic box office.

The five day breakup of the film is: Friday ?5.18 crore, Saturday ?6.27 crore, Sunday ?7.85 crore, Monday ?3.30 crore and Tuesday ?2.85 crore, according to trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh.

Films are declared hit, super-hit, flop, disaster, average and blockbuster on the basis of how much money it earns during its theatrical run at the box office. If the film earns double the production cost then it is a hit film; if the film earns more than double the production cost by an extra 20 percent, it's declared a super-hit film; if the film earns only the production cost then it's an average film; and if the film loses half or more the production cost then it's flop, according to Koimoi.com.

The year 2013 has not seen any big hits except for a few movies like "Race 2", "Special 26" and "Jolly LLB" that managed to rake in some good collections at the box office. Among the three, "Race 2" was the only film that crossed the ?100 crore mark.

"Chashme Baddor" collected ?25.45 crore from India and approximately ?4 crore overseas, taking the overall total to ?29.45 crore. It is expected to collect between ?30 and ?35 crore by the end of the first week and should do a lifetime business of around ?40 crore.

The satellite rights of the film have been sold for around ?9 crore; ancillary rights should fetch around ?2.5 crore, The Times of India reported.

Despite no super-star cast, the film has done exceptionally well at the box office.

Film distributor Girish Johar said, "After Jolly LLB, here's another hit." While the producer of the film, Anam Gill said, "CB has given us something to celebrate."

"Chashme Baddoor" features Ali Zafar, Siddharth, Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma in the lead roles, while Rishi Kapoor, Anupam Kher Lilette Dubey and Bharti Achrekar play supporting roles.

maybe its a matter of taste...it appeals to some and not to some

i would say its good to watch just for the feel good factor and
