Dil Ke Nazar Se Khoobsurat .Dekhne mein bhi tha Khoobsurat. The title of the show Dil Ke Nazar Se Khoobsurat very aptly conveys the essence of the show that you need look at an individual's inner beauty rather than judging them on outward appearance. Thumbs up to Shashi Sumeet Productions for giving us a show based on the immortal fable Beauty and the Beast. For me, no love story can be as romantic as this one. For ages now, productions houses have come up with movies / television shows based on the original fable or inspired from the learning to celebrate love and make impossible relations look possible. Moral remains same one should never judge a person by looks.
Looks can be deceptive. And indeed they proved deceptive for the school teacher who selected Rahul over Madhav for role of Prince just because of his looks, delegated the role of rock to a fat boy and for Aaradhya who ran away from her prince Madhav just because he was not charming. This kind of discrimination is not unusual in our society. Remember when Angola Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe it was reported as 1stdark skinned to have won the coveted title. Was this required?
Very often than not, talent is surpassed by the looks. Most of us will be able to relate to this statement as we would have come across situations where we don't get a decent platform to showcase our talents, just because of our average looks. The show very beautifully portrayed this essence. Kudos to the team for starting the show from basics i.e showcasing the childhood of the 3 lead actors and by combining another fable The Princess and the Frog Prince on the premiere night! No better way than to take us down our childhood memory lane, re-narrate the long forgotten bedtime stories and the re-inculcate the same moral values we grew up learning.
Most of the episode was spent on the play where we were introduced to the characters of all 3 protagonists of the show! We get to know that Aaradhya, who is treated as princess by her family, is scared of dark people and believes that prince will always be good looking. She will grow up to be an arrogant, self obsessed lady, ill treating the less fair complexion people because she carries impression of her parent's ideologies. Rahul is a charming young fellow who has I care a damn attitude. But all changes when it comes to his friend Madhav. Both are best of pals and Rahul even throws away his opportunity of being a prince to give his friend some spot light.
As we see today, Rahul will grow up to be a handsome hunk, one who gets what he wants, all credit to his looks. Madhav is shown to be an under confident boy with unpleasant scars on his face but a golden heart who forgives Aaradhya and apologizes to her on behalf of Rahul. He will be shy and submissive because of his childhood experience, especially the play, which made him understand that there is something he does not have and left him scared for life.
There was nothing extra ordinary about this show and yet the subtle presentation of beautiful emotions made you feel connected with the show. Emotion of bromance(brotherhood romance) when Rahul hides to give a deserving chance of being a prince to his friend; emotion of friendship when Rahul fights with Aaradhya for insulting his friend; emotion of disgust when Aaradhya's parent's defend their child for insulting Madhav by calling him brown ghost; emotion of anguish when Madhav tries to use soap to lighten his colour, it makes one cry their heart out; emotion of humane when Madhav apologizes to Aaradhya; emotion of pride when present Aaradhya (Saumya Seth) smiles cunningly at mirror convincing us of the fact that nothing can come between her and her beauty.
The kids were amazing and it's sad we would not get to see them again in the show. The school interiors, the stage, the costume and props, all looked satisfactory. Aaradhay's introductory scene was just the way a deeply in love with self princess should be introduced.
The show had a great opening but it is slated at same time as Star Plus'Saraswatichandra and may have to face some serious competition, though we feel that the makers have thought through well as the show looks promising. Let's wait and watch ifShashi Sumeet Productions are able to rekindle similar onscreen magic as their ongoing shows Punar Vivah and Diya Aur Baati Hum.
