i think inspire or copy we follow both
but when we inspire by something or person we admit it & credit it too
but when we copy we hardly admit or give credit
just my point of view Smile

I see inspired as told in ones own words.
Copy= told in somebody else's words and passing it off as ones own.

Inspiration is the mother of plagiarism/copying (by Indian / Bollywood standard).

Inspiration and Copying are basically act of acquiring something not your own. Here are my thoughts

- Inspiration is of less severe grade than copying.
- Inspiration might come with acknowledgement. Copying usually does not
- Inspiration has your own input as well
- Inspiration should come with acknowledgement, copy should come with copyrights

A good case to study both will be Pritam. His songs are original, inspired as well as copied. One song of his which is original is following. I dont think its inspired or copied
