KBC's 5 crore winner Sunmeet Kaur kept husband in the dark!
The first woman in the six season history of KBC to win the 5 crore jackpot, Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney is still the same person as before. In conversation with this season's winner:You are the first woman to win 5 crores on KBC. You must be on top of the world.
It's a dream come true for me and I have no words. I'm so happy. It feels great! I feel like a celebrity now. I feel I have achieved so much!
So how was it on the hot seat with Mr. Bachchan?
I can't believe I sat on the hot seat for so long and played in front of him! People wait their whole lives to meet him and there I was sitting in front of the legend. He's so humble and polite. He was giving me tips on how to play. When you hear him speak, you can go on listening. Mr Bachchan is so charismatic.
Did you have to prepare very hard to make it till the end of the quiz and win the 5 crore question?
It was not easy. I studied a lot and would sit online for hours. I want to thank my tuition kids for helping me. We studied each and every subject together. Initially it was tough because there are no libraries near my house but thanks to the kids and the internet, I was prepared. I put in two and a half months of hard work.
You had a lot of support from your husband Manmeet Singh. Did you'll decide together that you would apply for the show?
Initially I did not tell my husband. I applied and cleared for the auditions, even then he did not know. When they gave me my shooting dates, I was clearly told I would have to bring my husband on the show. That's when I told him because I wanted to surprise him. He's the only person who supports ladies so much.
How do you intend to spend the cash prize?
I haven't decided yet. I was busy shooting and have not even spent time with my family. But some amount will surely go towards charity. Let's see. Maybe towards child education. Since I'm a tuition teacher, I will also think of expanding my home run business.
Will life change from now on?
No. I'm still the same person and my husband and I continue to remain grounded. We will always have our feet on the ground. He's a big actor but that has never gotten to him. So I don't see why anything should change now. We believe in simple thinking and high living.
Any plans for TV?
I will decide with my husband, depending on what is offered and what scope the show has.
