Wow, I always thought a girl who hides her beauty was less likely to be stared at. :S

I have read that in old times even non-Muslims in Europe would keep their heads covered when going outside to keep themselves protected.

I guess it's just the way our society has become today, no one is safe.Ouch

But I still think wearing appropriate clothing lowers the risk.

Personally, since I have started wearing Hijaab, I feel much more safer when I go out.

When men do not follow their part? Why should women?

In islam, women have been told to cover themselves in the sense that they should only reveal their beauty to their husband. This is also a form of protection from other men. Men have also been told to lower their gaze and not look at other women, but instead of blaming men for looking at them shouldn't women just do what they can to keep themselves protected?

It is true that the society these days has become dominated by males, men get away with everything and women usually get blamed for everything especially in India/Pakistan. I have heard about many cases in India even such as rape cases when the victim (woman) is blamed for it such as why was she out at this time, why was she wearing such clothes that provoked the assault, etc. It's just the way our society has become now.Confused

Back to the question about less clothing provoking assaults, imagine if there are two women walking together, one is fully covered while the other one is wearing more tight or revealing clothing, who would the men be attracted to more? They would stare the one wearing less clothing, right?

I have even noticed in shopping malls in Pakistan men are more likely to stare at a girl when she is wearing western clothes, and I am saying this from experience.

men should lower their gaze, does not matter what the woman is wearing! Follow Islam Muslim men!!

Yeah but Women should also cover themselves as per Islam

Why shouldnt they? :S People should focus on protecting themselves rather than blaming other people.

Yes but thats just how society has become today, the men of our society have made their own so called religious facts and think that they own women when both genders should be equal :S

It's the society that's the problem. The society asks the women to cover herself properly.(I'm not saying she shouldn't be, I know it's mandatory for a Muslim women to do so) But Islam also tells a man to lower his gaze! I don't get it why does the society raise their fingers at the women and blame her for everything. Why can't man respect the women. Women are not responsible for the assults. It's the women who bears all the humiliation after the assults and the men is free. He's not even punished for this. If a women should wear proper clothing then the the man should also be lowering his gaze. I don't blame the character of Zaroon or any other guy, it's the society that needs to give both men and women equal rights and respect.I guess our society can never change... if it had to change, it could have changed a long time ago. Just my POV:)
