girl are you serious? Allah has made men and women to compliment each other not to compete with each other. Pardon me for corrupting some innocent minds here but I think I need to give an explicit example. A man and woman get married, Islamically, non-islamically IN EVERY SINGLE CULTURE the lady dresses up for the man in something call lingerie. Men usually are not asked to adorn themselves with lingerie because NATURE has already decided that men wearing earings, necklaces, lingere, doesn't usually turn the female species ON whereas it's a different case the other way around. So yes, to answer your topic questions, less cloths do turn on the male species. Now there is a vast majority of males around the world that are therki (I hope u know what that means) and they will get turned on by the mere presence of a female around them. So you do what you are told to do. Women are supposed to conceal their aura and men are supposed to lower their gaze. Each individual is answerable to Allah for their own deeds.

And to answer your above question, why men are not asked to cover their head, the answer is their zulfain are not part of men's aura but for women it is part of their aura. Please don't ask me to translate aura for you. Secondly, in Islam, there is a dress code for men as well which people tend to completely ignore. They are also supposed to wear loose, modest clothing. The shirts where their muscles are popping out of the baby gap t-shirts are not allowed. So yes, they have restrictions too but different restriction since they are created differently. God knows what he created and HE very well knows what is BEST for his creations. He has given us the guidelines which are good for our own selves. These restrictions don't benefit Allah swt but they benefit us. As a Muslim, if one doesn't understand wisdom behind certain guidelines, the least we should do is to understand one thing that Allah swt CANNOT be wrong and it is our limited understanding because of which I am not able to grasp the wisdom a certain rule. If you sincerely want to know the answer to your questions, don't look for them in forums where you will find answers which supposedly sound cool, look for your answers in Quran and hadith.

In islam, women have been told to cover themselves in the sense that they should only reveal their beauty to their husband. This is also a form of protection from other men. Men have also been told to lower their gaze and not look at other women, but instead of blaming men for looking at them shouldn't women just do what they can to keep themselves protected?

It is true that the society these days has become dominated by males, men get away with everything and women usually get blamed for everything especially in India/Pakistan. I have heard about many cases in India even such as rape cases when the victim (woman) is blamed for it such as why was she out at this time, why was she wearing such clothes that provoked the assault, etc. It's just the way our society has become now.Confused

Back to the question about less clothing provoking assaults, imagine if there are two women walking together, one is fully covered while the other one is wearing more tight or revealing clothing, who would the men be attracted to more? They would stare the one wearing less clothing, right?

I have even noticed in shopping malls in Pakistan men are more likely to stare at a girl when she is wearing western clothes, and I am saying this from experience.

Exactly! Thanks Arwen and Sana.

Why is religion being brought in? All of us know what the religion says. The issue here is culture and how men seem to be exempt from everything while woman have to conform to men.

This is an issue of morality, of humanity. Assaulting and raping are wrong period! It does not matter what a woman is wearing, assaulting and raping someone is just immoral, and inhumane.
