A lot of people are suggesting one horrible punishment after the other. But it doesn't solve the problem. Here's why

If the punishment is increased to death sentence it will only make judges more reluctant to hand it out because if the evidence is not concrete they wont feel the motivation to send a guy who is 'possibly' innocent to the gallows.
Also, if punishment is increased to death sentence, the rapists will just kill the victim so that her voice is silenced and she is unable to point out the perperator.
Castration is an effective option, but it doesn't solve the problem of mentality.
Also, we are living in a civilized society. If we resort to mob justice to solve our problems, we will also become like animals. Also, it will result in anarchy, where everybody resorts to mob justice for solutions and there will be a collapse of government and law and order solution.I know you're thinking 'If we're in a civilized society, then how is that rapes happen?" But two wrongs don't make a right!

What we really need is not stricter laws but stricter law enforcement

Legislators who make demeaning comments on women should be probed and suspended if they are found guilty.
Marital rape should be criminalised. The laws should be of help to all women, not just under 18 year olds.'Eve-teasing' should be changed to 'Sexual harassment.
There should not be words like violating the 'modesty' of a woman because that just makes police officers think they can decide whether the woman is modest or not.It should be changed to something more appropriate.
Faulty tests like 'two-finger' tests to determine the victim's promiscuity should be abolished because they only result in trauma for the victim.
'Stalking' should be criminalised.
Though I don't advocate death penalty, I think the sentence should be increased to 20-25 years.
Police officers should be offered more incentives. They work for hours on VIP duty and they are only offered biscuits. Their working conditions are pathetic. As a result they become desensitized over a period of time. They need to be offered counselling along with gender-training so that they can retain compassion while on the job.
All sexual offences should be non-bailable.

In a way death penalty is too easy. And publicly humilating them will serve no purpose except to turn us into a bunch of murderers too. Its best to give them rigorous life imprisonment without any bail.

This is just my opinion. I know many of you are angry right now so you will disagree

. But practically this is the best solution.

give them capital punishment including the minor also and amend the law firstly on top priority.

Before they r hanged they should be made impotent forever and should be tortured everyday till they themselves plead for death and then hang them on india gate in front of the entire country.

I want the rapists to have most humiliating and horrible punishment
evryday cut the organ gradually... and don't give him food...
tell him to earn his own food

rape punishment in Yemen:

I am sure it helps,but we can modify it,by blackening their face and they should be stripped off their clothes,instead of a carpet lay them on pointed iron wires generally used near factories or industries,cut each and every part of their body everyday starting from their nails and keep 'em alive so they can beg for death.

People 'm not an Indianbut does that matter?

I am a human,a girl and that's enough,since I have read and heard about this rape there's not a single day or a moment I dont think about the fighter girl and what she went through,what I am suggesting, please consider it as a voice against this horrible crime.

This is the least I can do to get the girl justice,because I am related to her with a tie which is above all the relations and ties and that tie is called 'humanity'.

No other thought only punishment is to cut one hand and two legs for each bewakuf..

Castrate him and then insert the same rod in his body... Rapists should be given such severe punishments that no man has the guts to even think of rape in his fantasies.

capital pinishment is very lenient punishment for them ... if in evry city with even 1 rapiest this will done by god they will know the meaning of what they have done ... and in future evry single low level mind will think thousand time what mass and member of the family will do ...

i too agree wid u. this people must suffer each and every second in their life time remembering their deeds. The the 6th person who is sooo called minor rapist also deserves the same. When commiting this rape, this B******* didnt remember that he is minor or some blah blah... then how come now comes this minor and major issue.

In my opinion, I think Capital punishment is not the solution for a crime as hideous as rape. This in turn might raise the number of murders as the criminals will not only try to kill the victim but also witnesses, if any. Moreover, few people are so insane that even a death penalty won't stop their acts because they might think that they will find some way or the other to get away from the clutches of law and if not, they might be so stone-hearted that they won't yet feel the guilt and shame they rightly should.

Death penalty for a person who takes lives is like tit for tat. Similarly, I think an option like castration is what a person deserves to snatch away the dignity of a woman mercilessly. When a man can stoop so low as this, then he deserves a punishment so harsh that makes him live yet die every day in guilt and shame for the crime he has done. A man like that would be a living example for people to learn what the consequence of their deed can be! It won't be like bygone or once-it-happened act. It's a common thing that people move on and forget the past or the past fades itself. Once a criminal is dead, more are born. But when we compel a person to live in guilt, humiliation and shame throughout his life, people might learn something. They'll atleast thing before doing such acts.

Banning guys or girls from moving out after a specified time limit or restricting their presence will never be a solution. We all co-exist in this world. Restrictions make people rebel. Rules compel people to break them. The only thing that we need to teach people is to value every individual and respect them. Crimes can be reduced only when we don't let criminals be born in an individual.
