All these reports are really giving India a very bad name and I hope it can be cleared . India must wake up.
I notice most of these crimes are in urban areas and it seems rapes are pretty common. Without a combined National effort , nothing can happen.

It could be worse in rural areas as victims could find it difficult to get complains registered. The culprits if well connected can pressurise and threaten not to report or to ignore any complains.

@ Summer- Reading further on that same article you quoted----

"...According to experts only about ten percent of the rapes are reports. The TOI reports, that Delhi registered 568 cases of rape, compared to 218 in Mumbai in 2011 according to NCRB records. In the 2007-2011 period, Delhi topped the chart, followed by Mumbai, Bhopal, Pune and Jaipur.

While there is much chagrin in Bharat and the West over the latest rape in a moving bus'the Western media is silent. The Rape NGOs in America and Europe are silent, and the silence is deafening.

More than ten million Dalit women are raped. While they are untouchable but they are raped. 😕

More than 2000 rape victims in Kashmir have come forward, but their cases are not heard, because the army is the culprit.

India stands third when it comes to rape cases, latest data of the Union Home Ministry suggest. Ahead of India are only the United States and South Africa.

India ranked behind South Africa and USA is a great shame.

The article further states that BOLLYWOOD  is also to blame:

When we say that Bollywood is soft-po*n, they think this is supposedly Anti-Indian. Today, a majority of Indians think that Bollywood's current shape is responsible for the high incidence of violence in Bharat.

Bollywood is a vehicle down the slippery slope of making violence acceptable. Bollywood has changed a lot since the days of Mahmood Studios. I was listening to an interview of Lata Mangeshkar — a truly piously religious woman, who does puja every day — but also sang one of the most profoundly devout "naat" in praise of Allah. But that was the previous generation. Today, those norms are gone!

The people of Bharat are incensed, and right so. We salute them! Everyone on this planet needs to support the anti-rape laws. Death penalty or castration should be in order — solutions being discussed in the civlized Bharati press as represented by the Hindu

Question for Dr. Jamil? Do Bharati intellectual exist? Where are they? Its impossible to have a meaningful discussion with moronic individuals who display no intellect and reduce discussion of history into a zero-sum game or Islamphobic comments

We used to have Bharati intellectuals like Mr. Kant and others on this site. Where are they? We should get them back.

We are challenging ourselves?

Unfortunately we are left with the likes of these guys, who have no knowledge, and all they can do is be abusive. Just our luck I guess — or do these few folks represent the majority? These couple of guys writing under different names spoil the mood and the decorum of the entire discussion. Their foul mouth and low ideas display their upbringing!

Its not that it bothers the editors, it takes us one second to seek nonsense, and one second to hit the delete button! Its just that one wonders –how could a society progress, if they have these sorts of individuals who peruse the internet. It is obvious that ours is not the only site that they are abusive now. It is second nature to them

Its folks with exactly this mentality who are the rapists
