How selfishly do we forget that nobody from the "public" came forward for an entire hour when the girl was there, nude and bleeding - DYING - on the streets of Delhi.

The government is made up of people from among these same public. How much can be expected from them? Lets not forget that people feel good making noise and partying ... ooops! ... protesting on the streets! It is a "feel good" thing too ... makes the dead soul feel that its still alive.

No ... first look at yourself. Search your soul Delhi, and I am searching my soul too. Although I was not brought up in Delhi but I was born there. I don't know how to face myself in front of the mirrors ... God I never felt more ashamed ever in my life.

I don't know exactly what to do ... but I know one thing for sure that the Police and the Government come lot later than these coward and selfish PUBLIC themselves. These "PUBLIC" are too quick to blame others and save their garb from its deserving portion of mud!

Can never forgive and forget that 60 minutes that must've been the longest 60 minute for any soul in Delhi at that moment.

Yes, the public who stood and did nothing that day are to be blamed too.

We should be ashamed for being so damn scared of police / for being so insensitive towards another human.

There is nothing that can be taken as an excuse for the crowds inaction. I just hope people including you and me, become more responsible from now on.  Next time when we come across such a situation, run to help should be the instant reaction.

Forum is for sharing our emotions. hence so many come here to put their thoughts into words just like u did. There is nothing wrong in that. Why are you mixing the insensitive crowd with the people who are protesting ?  There might be genuine people who want changes. The govt too needs to act on stricter laws and more people friendly police. So, without a reaction from the public our govt will not act. Maybe this protest will bring in that change in govt, police and the public.

The police and the goverment are not the only ones to be blamed as already pointed out by some members earlier. The protests need to go on all the same. This is needed to create awareness in society which has very  ancient gender ideas even today. It is also needed to kick the police, goverment and courts into action.

For the first time, the public has united to protest against something that is wrong and needs to be changed... and instead of showing a little bit support some of us like to term it as "partying". Sad stuff.
Yes, people like to leave their daily jobs and support all the girls that go through such brutalities everyday. Yes, people like to face the lathi charges and still continue protesting.. hoping that something would be done about the matter. Instead they should just sit and criticize people, shouldn't they? That looks like the correct solution.

It is the immediate public which needs more guts to avoid such situations.

When I walk in public, and i anyone starts talking rubbish or follows me...I have zero confidence that the other ppl will come and help me...

And such ppl when start morchas, dont it look hypocritical?

We should be united not only in starting morchas for justice but also when we see bad behavior, molestation around us...even if you singularly cant call for the mob...

I apologize to those men and women who would come forward to a girl, boy, child or elderly in distress or a circumstance in which that girl was found on the middle of the road. But I think that such people are a fraction or a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percentage in modern day India, and my native city New Delhi.

Please call it New Delhi ... at least this spares an ounce of shame in us who have some connection to Old Delhi. Its a nightmare, I know I'm being shameless. But I don't know how would I next remember Delhi whose stories I heard as a child from my grandparents. I was not raised in Delhi, but I have always had a special for it in my heart. In my protests and in my joy, in my anger and rejection, in my words and souls calling.

I literally wept ... I don't know how to face myself. Are we all such monsters inside? Why does it happen always in Delhi?

Yes, I don't blame the Police and the Government. They came out of a shameless, spineless and cowardly mob. A mob which calls itself "Public".

The public only comes out when they are in a Morcha. Protected, sheltered, shielded and supported ... they are empowered by numbers and now can do hooliganism, they can now scream, shout and dance or sing. YES ITS A PARTY ... its nothing more than a Sunday Blast.

Where were they ... lakhs of them ... on the streets and when the body was dying on the road? The Cowards closed their doors, windows and turned their faces away. These cowards wanted no piece of it for themselves. Now when cushioned by a morcha, they come forward blaming Police and Government ... shedding tears ... even sheeps are better than them.

Yes ... I have no respect for these PUBLIC ... I do appreciate the voice ... but this voice came too late. The girl is gone ... and they are still COWARDS. Thus, nothing changed.

This girl was innocent ... someone very special. My very soul feels raped ... specially due to my links with Delhi. I cannot rest till an exemplary punishment is given to this barbaric humanoids. Just hanging cant be done ... they need something worse. Atleast suffer as long as she did ... something really brutal.

Criticizing the people who are standing up for the girl and calling it a "party", and then hoping those animals suffer brutally too is like living in a fairy tale. Things do not work that way.
Only when people protest against something, is when something is going to change. Not only for that one particular girl, it is for every girl who was a victim of such name calling or other forms of brutality, for those girls who live in fear in the biggest cities in India. What happened to that girl was terrible! It can happen with anybody and anywhere, so no the protest for strict laws against such crimes is not "partying". No one wants to spend their time waiting in such circumstances while facing the police, no one is doing it for their merriment, they are there because these things are happening everyday and has forced women to live in shadow of fear. So no it is not a bunch of lunatics who have gathered that area to "party", I wish it was a party... party that stricter laws have been imposed in our country and we are living in a democratic nation where women feel safe, but sadly it is not.
