Movie Review: Table No 21

Table No 21 is this year's first release. According to the director Aditya Datt, This film is a 'Crazy Thriller'. There were speculations in the Press and Media about Table No 21 to be a rip-off of 'Saw', 'The Hunger Game' and 'Phone booth' and the film does have very few inspirations from the mentioned films, But as a plot this film is very different.

The film is about a middle-class couple Vivaan (Rajeev Khandelwal) and Siya (Tena Desae) who wins a free trip to the exotic Fiji Islands. Soon their affair turns into a reality show for 8 million viewers on the internet. The couple is invited by Mr.Khan (Paresh Rawal) to Table No. 21, A live game show where 8 questions are asked, followed by a daunting task. There's a Rapid Fire round too. And the prize money is Indian Rupees 21 Crores. But, A Hitch.. If you speak one 'Lie', You Die.

Soon arrives the moment where the couple is torn between a web of Lies, Truth and shocking reality which leads to a climax where you feel very Sad about what actually happened. I promise, I will not give you away much but In the end, You'll definitely solve the mystery of the film's title for sure.

Rajeev Khandelwal this time sits on the 'Hot Seat' of Sach Ka Samna in Table No 21. He performs his part with lot of energy but his role very much reminds of his earlier (Debut) film 'Aamir'. Tena Desae is charming in the film. The actress knows her performance timing and screen space in between two seasoned actors. Paresh Rawal is the actor who takes the cake in the film with his Class-A-Part acting and new Look. In fact, You start to feel in some parts about the film being in-complete without Paresh Rawal as he carries the whole film on his shoulders.

Aditya Datt has done a good job of entertaining on the edge of seat with a Nail-Biting script and splashing-in some hard reality bytes. The film is little slow in the First Half, That's because (Maybe) the writer wanted you to understand the character's and the Game. But as soon as the second half concludes, The film goes into a total different aura of 'Bumpy-Rides' altogether.

Prepare yourself for an Edge-Of-Seat roller coaster ride of this 'Scary' and 'Thrilling' Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Cast: Rajeev Khandelwal, Tena Desae, Paresh Rawal

Table No 21 review

Rajeev Khandelwal's controversial television debut show, 'Sach Ka Saamna' comes to the silver screens with Table No. 21. Set in the beautiful landscapes of the Fiji Island, the movie promises to lure the viewer's attention right till the end. Starring the experienced Paresh Rawal, Table No 21 is directed by Aditya Bhatt. After a series or promotions this movie has finally hit the screens. Let's see how it is.

Story :

The story revolves around a happily married couple Vivaan (Rajeev Khandelwal) and Siya (Tena Desae) who win a free lucky draw trip to the Fiji Islands. It is when Mr. Khan (Paresh Rawal) who is the host to their trip, tricks them to play a game which has been viewed by eight million people through the internet.

To the couple's surprise with each question, the game becomes more and more dangerous, leaving the couple but with no choice but to play the game. With every question there is a task that they will have to perform to win the price money of 21 crores. The rules are absolutely simple though; if you lie, you die. The rest of the movie is about the couple playing the game and whether or not they lie or die.

Plus Points :

Rajeev's good looks and effective acting, Tena's sensuality and Paresh's villainous avatar is something that gives the movie a heads up. He sets the screen ablaze with his clever acting skills. He holds the movie right till the end and is worth watching in the climax. The concept of settling a dangerous game setting in the beautiful landscapes of Fiji is quite interesting.

The climax of the movie is really is an eye-opener and will definitely touch the lives of many. The second half of the movie is interesting and shocking. Tena's beauty is sensibly used in some of the scenes. The game and the whole thrills associated with the game are worth a mention and also make you stick to your seats.

Minus Points :

The movie in some places seem to be less realistic. Even though Aditya Dutt has done a good job with the plot, the flick could have been more extended. Few rounds of the game seem to be outdated, which makes the first half of the movie a little slow and tedious. Even though Paresh has carried his look well, the actor would have been giving some more humor to carry, which is his forte. The first half could have been more sleek as some scenes have been dragged out.

Technical Aspects :

Numbers like 'Mann Mera' and 'O Sajna' are set in the perfect scene and timing. The director has taken a smart step in giving the movie less songs and more suspense. Aditya Dutt gets is successful in making the second part of the movie much more interesting than the first.

He makes the questions more dangerous, tensed and even sometimes nail-biting. Cinematography is cool and shows the fiji islands and the whole hotel set up efficiently. Screen play is the heart of the movie and is apt in most of the film

Verdict :

On the whole, Table No. 21 is one film will does not disappoint at all. Paresh rawal in a villainous avatar after a long time and the amazing chemistry of the new on-screen couple are sure shot plus points. On the flip side this movie is not the regular pop corn entertainer. Finally, If you are a fan of saucy thrillers an edge of the seat moments, Table No 21 is a film which is surely worth a watch. The social message in the end is the icing in the cake.

Ab hoga sach ka saamna!!!!!!!

Sach ka saamna, this movie is one of the most anticipated movie by me this year, and more over its a rajiv khandelwal movie. After watching his movie aamir which was a quite movie on box office, was a very strong plot movie.

The plot of this movie also seems great and why not, its a myth that movies on low budget and low on star studded people do have a good plot, and movies with high publicity and big stars dnt have plot.

This movie is surely one to watch out for.

Rajeev, Paresh Rawal boosted Tena Desae's confidence for TABLE NO. 21

Tena Desae started her career with offbeat films like YEH FAASLEY, SAHI DHANDHE GALAT BANDEY and THE BEST EXOTIC MARIGOLD HOTEL. However, when it came to her first out and out commercial film TABLE NO.21, she was particularly thrilled when she realised that her co-stars were no less than Rajeev Khandelwal and Paresh Rawal.

"When I found out about the cast, I was very happy. Since the film is being driven by three major characters, it was important for me to have other actors as really strong. Otherwise the film would have fallen flat if the characters didn't bring the story alive. Honestly, we could have been scre$$d of not for an able cast," says Tena in an animated tone.

Fortunately though, her fears were unfounded.

"Rajeev has a strong history of films. His AAMIR and SHAITAN have been cult and even otherwise he has done some hardcore intense stuff, case in point being his television show 'Sach Ka Saamna'. As for Paresh, he can do anything. I welcomed the fact that they were there since I depended on their brilliance to perform well. When they were around, I was all the more confident," admits Tena.

Now here is hoping that her confidence indeed pays off when the film releases all over this Friday.
