Hello

is social issues have become new publicity stunt and trends for Bollywood stars?? or does they really have care for the victims

like whenever its Anna ji's fights for social or gangrape issues as example cz bollywood stars giving experts statement which gets media coverage to whole news.does they really give statements being concerned for victims or for getting media coverage

why don they give such statements regularly cz newspapers always covers social issues from village to city.

^^^ yess this annoys me. every stars is like competing with each other nowadays to give statements be he/she is my fav or yours. seriously we like stars but we certainly don like whatever they does. we'll always stand when they do good and will not support them in wrong ways.

i think 'yes' becoz more than some charity, some tweets or some words, they don't contribute to the cause whatsoever

Bolly celebs are too scared to take a stand and fight for what they believe in. They speak up when something happens and then keep quiet once the news has gone stale.

A HUGE Yes!!! Social issues are definitely a publicity stunt for them & for some stars social issues are also an effective market/genre!

In past some stars like Balraj Sahni & Sunil Dutt were actually active in social causes, politics & were seriously committed to what they were doing. Later from 1980s, social issues became a fad of sorts with likes of Shabana Azmi wearing their "cause celebrity" tag on their sleeves! The celebs may be knowing about issues in depth or not but they make it a point to add their two words to show off their "conscience". Some manage their outside image well (Aamir, Shabana, Javed Akhtar etc.). Others are plain hypocrites (such as the alcoholic Dharmendra who foolishly gives message to Punjab youth to avoid sharaab/nasha!).

Only few like Nandita Das & Rahul Bose are seriously aware of issues & have commitedly done activism.

Preity Zinta, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar keep hopping from one cause to other. SRK supposedly does "secret charity". Salman now started charity.

They may or may not continue to work on any cause seriously but their statements, show offs (TV shows/charities/public statements) earn them brownie points from fans & gullible public.

It's "social tourism" for them, an image building exercise & a way to have some longevity as public figure (some join politics later, and some continue as cause celebrities).

One shouldn't underestimate power of using social issues. It's turned around careers of some stars/celebs & given them unimaginable aura of respect, even covered up their murky past!

The hollowness of celeb social concern is proven in how they sugar-coat issues or pick soft issues to speak on. They will never dare to speak on underworld or any issue with communal or political ramifications!

Forget taking a stand or doing serious activism! These guys won't even take simple steps to show more responsible content in their films! If you're so concerned then why add songs like 'Tu cheez badi hai mast mast', 'Phasi gori chane ke khet mein', "Razia gundon mein phas gayi", "Halkat jawani" etc. in your films? Why celebrate stuff like Delhi Belly or Dirty Picture as "coming of age" of Indian cinema? And why do we have boob grabbing scenes or "uski lee, iski lee" type jokes in a supposedly kids' film?!! Or an entire speech making a joke of balatkar in a film on education system? Are genius writers so creatively bankrupt that they find nothing else to convey their ideas except vulgarity or cheap references to females?

Every male is clamouring to go shirtless & every female is shedding off clothes for steamier scenes/item songs. You're objectifying both males & females, glorifying cheap teasing as "wooing" & yet you claim to be socially concerned! No responsibility as entertainers!

@Bambogli

True! Every day in rural India, Dalit women get raped & tortured more brutally than anyone can imagine! But how many tweet about them? How many channels debate?

Within the Indian defence forces female officers get sexually harassed or raped by male colleagues. Some have even committed suicide due to this. Why doesn't anyone outrage over it?

It's all TRP tamasha, hypocrisy out there. And crocodile tears!

What do even online users do? Outraging over rape now but threaten rape or write out worst abuses (alluding to rape & unnatural sex) if in disagreement over what others write!
