though i may not agree with all of your points one point i really appreciate & that stands out is - if he is expecting to build a personal relationship with her why did he run off in the first place? if he ran away to clear the way for armaan then why does he want to be a barrier now? at that time atleast she made an effort to make her relationship with him work.
the truth is that most of the main characters in jjkn are being very loosely portrayed. blf may not have been directorially the best of stories but was surely hatke...hence the popularity - if you would notice, whenever, they stuck exactly to the blf track (even those who have not read the original storyline) would enjoy the feel of the story more than when they try deviating.
armaan - though i may be a fan of armaan & the armaan-jassi love story, logically his character is not strong enough to be the protagonist of a story. he is selfish as well and has always done things that he thought was best, whether it was chasing girls, covering up his mistakes, falling for jassi and in the process always treats raj pretty badly. why cant he be shown working a little more and why has he not tried hardwork as an option to revive the company from its losses?
jassi - well she is only as selfish as armaan or purab is. she worked her heart out for everyone she knew...i dont remember in any of the previous episodes that she spoke rudely to purab bar the instance when she refused purab the contract. she could have chosen to do that in private. but, otherwise i do not see any other occassion that she has particularly been rude to him. helped her a lot, that he has. and being the well settled person that he was never had the necessity to ask any help from her.....im sure if he does ask jassi help even today she will surely do it for him. if that is the case then she is using nandu the most, but it is very natural for boys to take many steps in helping their female friends or beaus to impress them before the girl actually helps in what way she can.
it is also a well known fact (and also through personal experience) that boys in love do end up doing a lot to please their beaus - i am sure that when armaan-jassi will end up becoming an item, he will provide her ten times more flowers/cards/chaeuffeurs than jassi will ever do.....that doesnt mean that she is using armaan.
purab - as has been discussed many times, purab leaving jassi seems to be the only complaint against him that everyone acknowledges. however, his character has also been depicted pretty loosely - never shown working, just always ready to fulfill jassi's whims. if he was a man of greater substance, he should have come back to jassi's house and apologised to the family members. he should not have made statements like " you are doing this only for armaan" when he promised her that he would not ask any questions about her past/present life. apart from these obviously the instances that he tries to prevent jassi from meeting armaan inspite of knowing that armaan has changed.
in the end i feel that none of the three is greater than the other and none lesser, i just think that they are all characters being etched by blf directors and moulded by t/d.

shreya...Very well said!!!! I agree with you points!! and you make a very good argument.
But! this is what my problem with Jassica is. Jassica knows that Purab has done a lot for her. She she doesn't show him any appriciation for his hard work....whatever the reason is for his hard work.
Now she knows very well that Purab loves her, isn't it her duty to not rub it in his face that very fact that she trying to get close to Armaan.
It it's Purab's fault that he's at her house checking up on her granted, then why did she even tell him that she was going to meet Armaan and ask him about his opinion. That's just wrong. Why does she feel the need to keep him upto date with her mission.
If she wants Purab out of her life, why doesn't she say so. In fact to a certain extent she's leading him on.
Jessica can be up front with him, but she hasn't. You can't have your cake and eat too.

kshreya here are my two cents.....
1) jassi/jessica is more or less thankless(i am not saying this for purab but also nandu, hm, the gang....and many others). somehow she always ends up getting credit alone for group efforts but she makes very little effort to appreciate her friends and peers. she is a person with me and myself syndrome(exception being with armaan). in that respect even armaan and mallika are better person than her (look at his treatment of raj who is wrong most of the time or mallika who almost always steps in grudgingly to help idiotic pari out)
2) this is a personal opinion but i would never go for help to a person i knew was in love with me and i could not reciprocate his feelings.i consider that being unfair to both him and myself. but jassi not only did it , she also countiniously keeps him offbalance(i want to take revenge but i do not, i want to be pretty but i am jassi). she has to make up her mind as to what she actually wants.also her rudeness does not do her any credit.
3) purab is a wild card in her life...he is more than a friend but not a love interest.relationships in these categories need to be handled carefully but jassi seems to have no finese when it comes to relations, she is so bsy reaping and milking her relationships (sorry but it is the bitter truth), that she seems to forget all relationships (mundane to serious) are two way streets.at the moment her family should be her first priority but she is busy playing games with armaan and purab.
4)now for purab...his feelings and love apart, he is also her gaurdian in some ways (until she returns back home).he is responsible for her safety and her actions during her stay with him. i fail to see what is wrong if he wants to know where she is or when she is returning back home. i admire an independent woman but late night sojourns are indications of stupidity not independence(incidentally jassi has always misused her independence). i agree there are families who do not care when thier ward or kids return home or what they do , but things are still different in india.when i had a chance to live with my gaurdians or in a women's hostel, there were rules i had to follow. what is wrong if purab expects the same with jassi(he is providing her with boarding and lodging and he is more flexible than any working women's hostel i know).if it is so much pain for jassi, why does she not try to move out .
there are so many things(none positive) that i can say for her but it is useless. for now mallika and armaan are saints in her comparison.

Good points shreya, lash ,Peaches and Purva.
Is Jassi being selfish ?? Yes, she is. However , we are taking her acts of selfishness too far. Because Purab too is equally selfish. It is not as if Purab helps every girl who is need. I remember Purab confiding in Meenakshi a lot, even remembering some past spent moments with her and yet not coming clean with her at the first instance. Reason? He knew Meenakshi was crazy about him. Yet he was not really avoiding her. In some respects, even leading her. That was when neither of them needed anything from each other.
Had Jassi wanted to rub Purab with her happiness with Armaan, she would have bombarded him with all the little spicy details. I think it was more a need of share her happiness with him at an impulsive moment of human bonding rather than a deliberate attempt of humiliation. I would call that insenstivity more than selfishness.
Jassi went to Purab to become Jessica when she had no other option. That was selfish. That was survival. I would credit Nandini more with Jassi's transformation than I would credit Purab. Would he have given the contract of the face of his company to the old Jassi ,bangs and all ??? Think about it. We still can say Purab did what he did because he cared. I would say he largely did it because he hoped he would get her for himself in return. Not to mention Jasmine designs did get a lot of footage because of the launch. In fact Jassi has even given him a blanket promise in return of his favours. He could have said that he wanted nothing, just wanted her to be happy in everything she did. He did not exactly say that, did he ?? During the dress convo, he was pretty nasty, inspite of knowing what horrendous time she went through. Despite understanding ( or not) her need to be close to her parents, who all but have disowned her. Armaan has been there, but she was actually quite blind to his affections at the beginning of her quest. That was very mean of Purab.
Jassi has never been an epitome of manners. Walia household lack a few basic curtesy facts. Like you need to be polite instead of either loud or timid. That one should not be eavesdropping. Billu is certainely a good patriarch, but either he screams or ends up callng people 'sirji' or 'madamji'. Most of the time he is short tempered and rude with his near and dear ones, which is almost mirrored in Jassi's attitude to almost everyone barring Armaan, with whom she was worse. She actually destroyed him. So insensitivity is something I would call running in Walia genes. I don't think Jassi even realised she had snubbed Purab on phone. That is rude. Very rude and ill mannered. Selfish? No.
By the way, I never ever see Purab asking anything about anyone from Jassi's family. Not even bebe. This from a guy who had almost become a piece of parantha eating fixture in Jassi's house. He seemed to getting away with the excuse that he left Jassi becaue she loved Armaan. To what purpose? He knew the casanova Armaan was. Heck, even Billu knows it. He knew Armaan was engaged to be married to Mallika. He knew the manipulator Armaan was ( wasn't he the one who always kept harping how bad Armaan was?) ! Yet he left her, and that too in such a shameful manner where her whole family would hung their head in shame humiliation and leave Jassi vulnerable to even more exploitation. If Armaan took advantage, wasn't Purab the one who created the perfect situation for it ?
Today, no where he says, even when he is talking to himself, that he does not want Jassi to get close to Armaan because he fears for her safety. It is rather he does not want all his 'hard work' to go waste (remember the dialouge 'mere saare mehnat pe paani phir jaayega?). Hard work?? Hello ! Beleive me, given a chance, Meenakshi would do the same,if not more, for him. Mallika would do the same,if not more, for Armaan. In both cases, they would hope for something in return. Which is actually accepting that he is doing everything for Jassi because he wants something big in return. That, here, would mean Jassi's whole life. A huge price to pay for any help.
Of course we can blame T&D for this. However I would say so far they have been kindest to Purab's character alone, because he always gets footage at the expense of others,be it Jassi or Armaan. Rest all the characters, starting from Armaan to Jassi to Mallika, have been fed to the sharks.
Armaan screams ILU Jassi and Jassi.....
