Akshara was sitting on her bed, wrapping the warm blanket on her feet. On her hand was a cup of coffee which she had been drinking for a long time. Her mind was kind of hazy with thoughts…and all those thoughts centered on one person….Naitik…..ever since they had started interacting, Akshara could feel a string of attraction between them which was not resting her for even a while….it became a habit for Akshara to start searching for Naitik as soon as she steps into her classroom or to raise her head lightly wherever his name was being mentioned….maybe she has a crush on him…she decided….there was no other way to clearly define it…she liked Naitik as a friend…she wanted to be his friend and there was an attraction…clearly she has a crush on him….

The word 'crush' slightly annoyed her as she remembered last year….Rituraj….he was a fresher and they bonded quite well when they were working on a project for their University….their project went well, they became friends and Varsha told her repeated times she has a crush on him….Akshara considered that too when things totally changed….a new girl 'Bindya' walked in….Rituraj fell for her and the two started going out together….Akshara didn't mind that…but what actually hurt her when Rituraj totally stopped talking to her….they stopped interacting, stopped being friends…Akshara tried many times to let Rituraj tell her why was he behaving the way he was…and never actually got a proper answer….this year she had heard from Varsha that Rituraj was off to London for his future studies…she saw Bindya few times on the University…but they were never friends and so didn't interact much….

But was it possible Naitik would be the same? She remembered the previous night….Naitik was kind of sad, or tensed…but he was still very sweet to her….maybe Naitik is not another 'Rituraj'…. even if he is…what difference did it make? Your crush doesn't become your life partner….Naitik and she will interact more…and that will be all that is between them…..

Akshara skipped University the next day….it was the day of the football match and she didn't feel like going even though Shaurya tried to convince her many times….Varsha too didn't go and they were in Akshara's room, going through some notes for their exams which were coming soon….Akshara was quiet and Varsha sensed that…

"Kya hua Akshara? Kuch soch rahi hai kya?"

"Nahi….wo exams ke bare main…"

"Mujh se jhoot mat bol. Tu waise bhi jhoot bol nahi sakti. Bata kya baat hai."

"Varsha tujhe Rituraj ke bare main yaad hai?"

Varsha looked at her, a little surprised. "Ha…kyu?"

"Shaurya ko wo sab pata tha?"

"Details main nahi…maine use bataya nahi…lekin tu itne din baat ye kyu poonch rahi hai.."

"Aise hi…"

"Akshara…hua kya hai??"

"Varsha tujhe yaad hai hum sab Naitik ke birthday ke liye uske farmhouse pe gaye the? Us din tere jane ke baad Shaurya Rohit ke saath baat karke ke liye chala gaya….mere pas kuch karne ke liye tha nahi to main bahar agayi…wahan maine Naitik ko dekha….kisise baat kar raha tha….pata nahi kisse lekin us call ke baad kafi tensed lag raha tha... to main aise hi soch rahi thi…."

That was what Varsha needed to hear. Varsha had tried to find out what was going on in Akshara's mind for a long time….she had noticed how Akshara would go nervous and at the same time happy whenever she was with Naitik. She was happy for her friend but at the same time not sure about Naitik.

"Hoga uska koi personal problem….tune use poocha nahi??"

"Main kaise poonch this Varsha…hum dono dost nahi hai...zyada baat bhi nahi karte…main aise to use poonch nahi pati…"

"Lekin usse Rituraj ka kya connection?"

Akshara didn't reply so Varsha asked her openly..."Tu use pasand karti hai…"

Akshara looked at Varsha….wanting to say no outright but she couldn't because she knew it wasn't true…she did like Naitik but when Varsha asked her so suddenly she didn't know what exactly to say. Varsha took that as a yes. She was about to say something when the door of Akshara's room opened and Rajshri came in…

"Akshara tera phone hai…Shaurya line pe hain." Akshara nodded at her mom and went downstairs.

"Ha Shaurya."

"Tu aur Varsha sach main nahi ayi."

"Maine tumhe kaha tha na…"

"Accha chor….main aur sab players vaise bhi hospital main hai."

"Hospital main kyu?"

"Wo khelte waqt Naitik ghir gaya….zyada serious nahi hai….par…."

Akshara didn't hear anything else. She just said "Main waha arahi hu," and dropped the phone.
