Top 10 Bollywood heroes of 2012

Salman Khan: With Ek Tha Tiger becoming the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time, Salman Khan was unarguably the top hero this year. The actor got rave reviews for his performance as a RAW agent in the film. With the much-hyped Dabangg 2 set for release around Christmas, Salman, who will reprise the role of the popular character Chulbul Pandey in the movie, is likely to end the year with a bang as well.

Shah Rukh Khan: King Khan ensured his place in the top slot this year with a powerful performance in legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's last movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Diehard SRK fans queued to watch their hero play the charming Samar Anand, a struggling Indian immigrant who falls in love with the daughter of a wealthy businessman and then becomes a hardened soldier who joins the Indian army after heartbreak.

Aamir Khan: Talaash proved once again that an Aamir film is worth waiting for. The suspense-thriller earned Rs.48.99 crore in the opening weekend and the critics loved Aamir's performance as the workaholic cop investigating the murder of a superstar.

Ranbir Kapoor: A year after his acclaimed performance in Rockstar, Ranbir delivered another winner as the Chaplinesque hearing and speech impaired Murphy in Barfi!, India's entry to the Oscars.

Ajay Devgn: Ajay also assured himself a place among the top 10 this year with his much talked about Son Of Sardaar which entered the elite Rs 100 crore club. The actor managed to pull large crowds despite stiff opposition from Shah Rukh Khan's film Jab Tak Hai Jaan which released at the same time. Ajay also had a superhit in the comedy Bol Bachchan which released earlier this year.

Akshay Kumar: 2012 was full of Akshay, with Rowdy Rathore, Joker and Oh My God!. And it's not over – he's just days away from the release of Khiladi 786.

Saif Ali Khan: Agent Vinod flopped but Saif Ali Khan more than made up for it with Cocktail. As the brash lover boy who believes that no relationship is for keeps until the heart decides otherwise, Saif's performance earned him rave reviews and a place in this year's top 10.

Emraan Hashmi: 2012 was the year that Emraan's serial-kisser tag was in danger of being replaced by serial-hitmaker with Jannat 2, Raaz 3 and Shanghai.

Irrfan Khan: This low-key Khan first delivered an acclaimed portrayal of the national award-winning athlete in Paan Singh Tomar and then as the adult Pi in Ang Lee's Life Of Pi.

Top 10 Bollywood heroes of 2012
