Random anecdote time…..
So a while back our family was invited to a late Diwali Potluck to our neighbors place. As usual, I quite quickly got bored with the small talk and chit chat amidst everyone. So I ended up playing with the children a rag tag bunch of noisy little boys and girls ranging from ages 4 to 15. Somehow I fit perfectly in with their crowd and was part of their games.
Later this weekend my friend and I were discussing kids and how neither of us wanted kids. Children are simply tedious and burdensome. And I was reflecting, despite how much I loathe children, I always seem to get along great with them. I told my friend how I ditched the grownups to hand with the kids.
At this point my mom interrupts and says "The funny thing is all the people there were around your age". I looked at her with wild eyed amusement, digesting the fact. Wow, it was incredibly true. Most of the grownups I ditched were couples late twenties, early thirties. Now a lot of thirty something women, especially Indian women might find this fact embarrassing. Or if they don't everyone around them would badger them about being unmarried, single and immature.
Who cares, I pump my fists and say "Yes, I am Peter Pan!"
