Unkahe Ehsaas (part -1)
The sun shined brightly on a mild winter morning in Jetsar. It had been 15 days since Anandi and Shiv united in the beautiful bond of marriage and anandi had been too touchy in the past few days they spent in Kesar Bagh. All the ceremonies, the love of the extended Shekhar family and the concluding reception with Shiv's friends made her feel like a totally new person. There were new dreams, new hopes and of course new relationships. The delight of being alive had suddenly returned back to her life. But the happiness seemed short lived as the ceremonies and rituals came to an end. Though she had been too eager to return back to Jetsar as she missed everyone back home terribly but going away from the Shekhars made her sad too. In a short while, she had come very close to all of them.
Life returned to normal as they returned to Jetsar. While Shiv got extremely busy in his office coping with the backlog of work, Anandi too had loads to cover up in school and Panchayat. And to add to it had been the awkwardness of living together, under the same roof, in the same room. Though the two of them were yet to take their relationship to the next level, they shared the same bed as neither could let the other sleep on the couch. Their mutual trust and understanding interplayed in most of such situations bringing them at mental peace. While he was ready to give her all the time to be ready for their relationship, she felt herself getting constantly attracted towards him. But there was no forcefulness or expectation from either side, letting them enjoy their beautiful friendship that was frequently interjected by the unintentional intimate moments.
On one such fine day, Anandi found herself humming a long forgotten tune as she prepared his breakfast. Dressed in a yellow bandini saree and adorned in her marital adornments - the mangalsutr, sindoor and the chuda, she looked like a perfect new bride. A shy smile crept to her lips as she thought about their evening plan. He was in for the surprise of a lifetime.
He too hadn't been on ground since she promised to finally take him to Jetsar's most beautiful spot. She kept it a mystery since the first night of their wedding and all this while had been more or less successful in pushing his eagerness to the brim. Now he could no longer wait to see the place that enticed his endearing wife so much. Stepping out of shower, he took a look at the blue shirt on the bed and smiled. She had requested him to wear this particular shirt for the day leaving him in a pleasant surprise. He never knew she too had a favorite in his wardrobe just like him. He always loved to see her in yellow and its shades. Yellow, to him, symbolized her place in his life - she was his sunshine, his spring, his breaking dawn. Overwhelmed by the thoughts he took the shirt off the hanger and was about to dress himself when suddenly he heard a loud smash and a simultaneous cry from the kitchen. He ran out worried but before he could fathom what happened, she ran up to him with a squeal and glomped him with all her might A cold shiver ran down his spine as he felt her gentle bosom pressing against his bare chest. He gasped at the ecstasy of the sensation. Something within him felt suddenly aroused. Something he didn't know ever existed. He wanted to hug her back and let that embrace go on for an eternity but the ken of reality obligated him to self-control.
"kya hua Anandi? aap theek to hain?" he asked shaking her out of the stupor. She suddenly broke the hug as reality crept in. Warm blood rushed to her cheeks as she parted herself from his unclothed body. He was completely stripped except the towel on his waist making her feel embarrassed. She tried to look away but his gaze was gripping enough to stop her from breaking the intensity of the moment. She shuddered as a cold drop of water fell from a lock of his hair onto her collar bone; accidently brushing the hot draining spoon in her hand against his bare shoulder. He winced as the broiling spoon burned a few dermal layers on his shoulder. Scared, she quickly got hold of his shoulder; pain reflecting in her eyes.
"I am sorry Shiv...woh maine dekha nahin. Woh actually kitchen mein jaise hi maine cupboard khola usmein se do-teen chuhe nikale...main darr gayi aur nashta banate banate hi bahaar aa gayi aur ye karchi mere hath mein hi rah gayi...aur aapko lag gayi...I am really sorry Shiv..." she spoke continuously in a baffled tone. Gently leaning forward, he cupped her face into his hands and made her meet his gaze. "main theek hoon Anandi" he mumbled with an assuring smile. She flinched looking deep into his eyes, "Par aapko dard ho raha hoga na...main aapko dard mein nahin dekh sakti Shiv. Aur meri wajah se to bilkul bhi nahin" she whispered leaving him absorbed in the depth of her words. He kept on looking dreamily at her. After a small pause he spoke softly, "Aap mujhe kabhi koi dard nahin de sakti Anandi...aap dard nahin dawa hain meri" .Her heart skipped a beat at his words. No one had ever loved her the way he did. The thought was as frightening as exhilarating. She had always been scared if she'd ever be able to love him the way he loved her. "Aap yahin rukiye main abhi aayi" she said, her voice trailed off trying to hold back tears.
He waited for her in the same spot, still undressed. She returned in a minute with a tray in her hand that had a bowl of water, a few hand towels and some medicinal paste. Making him sit on the couch she gently applied water soaked compress on his burn. Her hands trembled feeling his gaze rested upon her. She gulped at the uneasiness of the moment as her fingers accidently brushed against the side of his chest. Everything felt heated up and flared. After a few minutes of applying the cold compress, she gently dried the spot with a clean towel and applied the paste being careful not to hurt him; while he kept looking lovingly at her.
"Shiv aap taiyaar ho jaiye, main nashta lagati hoon" she said still trying to look away. He nodded and walked back towards his room when suddenly she called him from the back.
"Woh abhi shirt mat pehniyega...ghaav se lagegi to infection ho sakta hai" she said and he nodded again with a smile. He went inside while she went to prepare the table. After a few minutes he returned back and sat to eat breakfast. This time though more dressed but he looked even dishier. He wore a body-hugging sleeveless vest tucked neatly into his blue jeans showing off his well-toned muscles. Anandi felt stirred sitting close to him on the breakfast table. She barely ate making him concerned.
"aap theek hain na Anandi? fikar mat keejiye woh chuhe wapas nahin aayenge"
"han maine unhein kah diya hai ki agar unhone firse jetsar ki Sarpanch ko daraya to unhein hameshan ke liye gaon se bahar nikal dengi. Aur ye sunkar woh bhag gaye" he teased making a giggle touch her lips.
"main ab theek hoon"
"to phir aap kuch kha kyun nahin ri?"
"bas woh zyaada bhook nahin hai...aap khaiye main baad mein kha lungi"
"theek hai phir mujhe bhi bhook nahin hai...main bhi baad mein office mein kuch kha lunga"
"Shiv aap bhi na"
"To phir pehle khaiye" He fed her a bite. She blushed as he made her eat, the taste of his fingers still lingering on her tounge. Finishing the breakfast, Anandi helped Shiv put on his shirt.
"aapko apna promise to yaad hai na" he asked as she escorted him to his jeep. She nodded, a bright red blush staining her cheeks. "To theek hai phir sham ko milte hain" he said signing off. She waved to him as he drove out, blushed and whispered to herself "aaj ka din aapki zindagi ka sabse yaadgaar din hoga Shiv"
