@Spam A LOT

SRK was spontaneous in Darr, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Aamir was fine initially (JJWS, Rangeela) but became quite laboured in later years. Even now, just compare his performance in 3I to his performance in DCH and see how he appears "acting" in 3I but is better in DCH. Most critics agree that SRK has come to ham over the years while Aamir has become too methodical and is losing his spontaneity.

It reflected in their screen presence also. SRK was more easy and chilled out (though he's become a caricature of late). Aamir increasingly began to look self conscious over the years.

Personally I don't like either because I don't usually watch a movie for the actor but more for the concept and idea. I liked Aamir's recent movies for the concept and so if Shahrukh came up with interesting movies I would watch them too. I don't think any of them can call themselves King of Bollywood because well I think that title belongs Amitabh Bachchan. :)

I agree that he was top notch in Darr...But there have been movies like Duplicate which I could watch only for 15 minutes cause of his bad acting only..Even in some scenes in KKHH he has overacted imo..He maybe spontaneous but still not a very great actor imo.

Yeah Aamir doesnt appear as natural as he used to ..But then in my opinion only he could play Rancho's character from 3 idiots...Forget the other two Khans even the young actors like Ranbir couldnt be as convincing as him if they played Phunsuk Wangdu's character.

Agree. But Aamir also has films like Mela, first half of Ishq where his acting is unbearable or OTT (early 90s flops are also craps). Some people can't tolerate Raja Hindustani either (world knows he was given award to challenge his allegations against awards whereas his performance was critically panned). SRK has been unbearable in many films as well.

3 Idiots itself is an iconic film and in such films you can't find anything replaceable. Objectively Aamir's performance was not natural. He did appear like he was trying too hard. Just as DDLJ is iconic and we assume no one can be better Raj whereas honestly, SRK's performance was not without its share of flaws.

Those who lapped up Barfi can't imagine an Aamir or any other Khan pulling it off as good as Ranbir did.

In Aamir's case many times people merge good film with good acting.

As an actor Aamir has mostly lacked aura and screen presence to totally overshadow others and relied on solid scripts or better characters. He was offered Akshaye's role in DCH but he got Farhan to give him Akash (even as Farhan wasn't convinced) which was a more entertaining, glamorous, fun character compared to subdued Sid.

Even in AAA, some people feel he "overshadowed" Salman simply because he took up a smarter character. In reality, Salman's performance was equally good and true to his character.

Aamir's acting is not bad, it's just that effort shows, which shouldn't.

Yeah all Khans are overrated and overhyped by media.SRK's saved due to his exceptional overseas success for 20 years. Aamir Khan had little going for him till Lagaan & its Oscar nomination. Since then his 5-6 films altered his image & took him to higher plane.

Salman was dominant in 90s (neck to neck with SRK & Sunny). But faltered in 2000s till Wanted resurrected him.

The Khans are not a patch on Amitabh Bachchan or other stars who reigned in past. Their PR hypes success in one aspect so much as if they own Indian cinema. They've got average looks (except Salman), average to above average talent and it takes them 10 times more work (calculations, machinations included) to give one hit or good film in 1-3 years. (Of late they haven't even managed that as their recent releases got mixed reviews and struggled to be declared hits)

Aamir & SRK are especially like two sides of same coin. They both are too competitive, think of themselves as best/gamechangers/saviours of cinema.

Other stars have also given good films and performances which public has appreciated, but media & some fans online make it seem as if only Khans are running Bollywood.

Exactly! Media makes everything more hype than it has to be but important news is forgotten after a few days. AB never made such a big deal about himself he was/is so down to earth. The khans may look down to earth but they are all fuelling the competition between themselves.
