                                                          CHAPTER 14

Later in the evening at RM……….

           Everyone including Arnav was present in the living room having their evening snacks and tea.

Nani: I hv decided that tomorrow we shall hv a havan at home to pray for the marriage and successful future of Anjali bitiya and Vishal beta.

Arnav: Ok nani, I will talk to Panditji.

Nani: No Chotte I hv already talked to him. All we hv to do is the preparations for tomorrow.

Anjali: Ok nani I will take care of the preparations and Chotte make sure u reach on time for the havan tomorrow evening.

Arnav: Ok Di, I will finish my work beforehand.

Nani(hesitantly): Vishal beta, err……I was thinking if u cud give me Khushi bitiya's number then I wud personally invite her for the havan.

Annie(cheerfully): Khushi!! U mean Queen aunty. Will she come here once again?

Anjali: Yes beta your Queen aunty.

Annie: Yay!! Badi nani plz call her soon. I want to meet her again and spend some time with her. She is so sweet and gave us so many gifts. Right Ansh?

Ansh: Yes Maasi is so sweet and beautiful. Next time she comes I will play with her.

Nani: Ok beta u both can meet her tomorrow.(The kids cheered hearing that they were going to meet Khushi and went back to their room.)

V: I am sorry nani but I think we shud keep Khushi out of this.

Nani: Why beta? We know we were very wrong and I promise no one will talk to her about the past but tell her that just becoz of us she shud not miss ur marriage rituals.

V: No nani I am not denying becoz of the past or u all.

Arnav: Then what is the problem jiju?

V: Actually the fact is since the time I hv met Khushi, she has never been to any temple or any sort of puja or havan. She does not believe in these things and prefers to stay away as much as possible. In short she is an atheist.(Everyone gasped hearing this)

Everyone: WHAT???

Arnav(shocked): Khushi is an atheist!!

V: Yes she is but why are u all so shocked?

Akash: Jiju becoz amongst all of us Khushi was a person whose belief on God was unwavering. Whatever happened to her she never lost her hope and believed in God. Infact her belief was so strong that it cud even convince an atheist to believe in God once again.

NK: And in almost every sentence she took Devi Maiyaan's name atleast once.

V: U all knew her before me so maybe u all are right. Although I don't know about her past but her changes are due to some incident 5 yrs ago. I had once heard Lav ask her about this but she told that these things are ridiculous and if God was truly present then she wud not hv gone through what she suffered.

Payal(looking pointedly at Arnav): Changes happen in everyone and seeing the extent of change in Khushi its not difficult to believe that she has become an atheist. If circumstances can make a person believe in God then they can also make someone lose their belief.

V: U are right Payal. I don't know how Khushi was before but Lav knows and from her talks I hv figured out that ur Khushi and my K are very different. Sometimes Lav says that if it was not for her face and past memory then she wud hv thought K to be Khushi's long lost twin coz Khushi and K are like two personalities of the same person.

Arnav(in a guilt ridden voice): What happened in these 5 years with her?

V: I cant tell u all that coz K doesn't like it and it is not my work to inform u all about it. U all are her relatives and she has to tell u all this by herself if she is comfortable with it. All I can say we hv seen her going through hell and come back. As for Lav, she has actually seen Khushi's death and KS's birth. And ur old Khushi can never be brought back. U all are not aware of her new side so u cannot understand it now but eventually if u get a chance to know her then u will get why I am saying this.

Arnav(holding back tears): But we can atleast try?

V: It depends on u Arnav but if u all want to live in peace then I wud say don't do it. And bringing up the past will hurt her which I will never tolerate. So its better if we respect her wishes and keep her out of this.

Arnav: Ok jiju as u wish(saying this he got up and went to his room to let his emotions take over him)

V: Anju, I need to go to K's house as I hv to discuss something about the upcoming project with her. I hope u all can manage with the preparations for tomorrow.

Akash: Don't worry jiju u carry on with ur work, everything will be done here.

V: Thanks Akash. Ok then I shall leave(saying this Vishal left)

Nani: Payal bitiya why don't u talk to Khushi about coming tomorrow. She will never deny u and besides seeing the holy atmosphere may bring back her good memories.

Payal: I will think about it but I wont force her. I will just invite her then its upto her whether to come or not.(saying this she went away)

Next morning at RM……..

Everyone was having breakfast  when suddenly Payal came all dressed up to go out.

Nani: Payal are u going somewhere?

Payal: Yes naniji.

Anjali: But Payal so early in the morning?

Payal: Coz the person I want to meet will be available only now.

Anjali: Who?

Akash: Actually Di we are going to meet Khushi.

Arnav: What? Do u know where she lives?

Akash: Erm….yes bhai we know that since a long time.

Arnav: And u didn't bother to tell us?

Akash: Khushi wanted it to be kept hidden from everyone especially u all. And bhai there is something which u all shud know now(he said looking at Payal who nodded her head in affirmation)

Arnav: Anything else is left? Just spit it out Akash.

Akash: Bhai, Khushi lives in Singhania Mansion –address 'xyz road, New Delhi'. As she said she had it constructed 3 yrs back and since then the Guptas i.e. Bauji, Amma and Buaji stay there.

Arnav: WHAT? How is it possible? I searched for them everywhere then how cud I not find them if they were in Delhi itself.

Akash: Bhai relax! U are forgetting who Khushi is and she can do anything with her hold. If she cud hide herself then why not her family.

Arnav: U knew this all the while then why didn't u tell me when I was searching for them?

Akash: Coz Guptas didn't want to meet u all after what u did with Khushi. Besides we didn't know their whereabouts from beginning. It was Khushi who searched them and brought them here. After proving Khushi's innocence Bauji decided to go back to Lucknow but they didn't go to their house as they knew u wud search for them so they stayed with their family friends who had just returned from Mumbai after a long time. Bauji used to assist uncle in his work to earn money. 4 yrs back when Khushi was a bit settled, she searched for them and found out their whereabouts. Since then she also used to send them a major amount of money that she earned and this went on for a year. She used to talk to us but never told us about them. Payal used to get worried for her parents but Khushi used to console her that they wud be good wherever they were. 3 yrs back when KS Fashions started to gain fame the 1^st thing Khushi did was to construct Singhania Mansion in Delhi and brought the Guptas back here. It was then she told us about her new house and them and asked us to take care of them but to keep our mouth shut. Khushi  was well established by then and used to take care of all the needs of Guptas. She even denied Bauji to work anywhere and told him to take rest. She used to send a doctor every week from US for regular check up of all of them. She used to talk to her parents but as I said the calls were only from her side and that too once in a month. She appointed her employee Suzanne who stayed at SM to take care of Guptas and only she had Lavanya's number which she used to call on in case of emergency. SM has every luxury a place shud hv so u don't even need to come out of there but whenever anyone of them used to come out they were accompanied by bodyguards who dressed casually to hide their identity. SM had security so one cant even go inside without protection. In short Khushi did everything to keep them safe, protected and hidden from u. Me, Payal and NK often used to visit them when we got time.

Arnav: Akash so much happened and u didn't tell me. I didn't expect this from u atleast. Now tell me whatever else u know about Khushi or Guptas.

Akash: This is all what I knew about them. All 3 of us don't know anything more than this and believe me Khushi's new habits are equally surprising to us as it is to u. And as for telling u is concerned , I didn't want to take that risk and lose Khushi once again.

Anjali: U 3 shud hv told of atleast something.

Akash: Plz Di we told u whatever we knew and now I don't want to discuss anything regarding this.

Anjali: Ok so if u are going to SM then I will also go with u coz I need to meet Vishal.

Arnav: Even I will go, I need to discuss with her about the new project.

Akash: I am not sure whether I shud take u all or not.

Payal: Its ok Akash we can take them I will talk to Khushi.

Mami: Hello hi bye bye Akash bitwa if u all are going then take me and sasuma with u also.

Payal: Err…….no Maaji, I don't know how Khushi will react seeing Di and Arnavji there but still I am taking the risk. But taking u both will be too much for today. We will take u the next time we go.

NK: Ok then lets leave we are already getting late.
