Chapter 5

Khushi waited for Arnav to come down. Unlike the day before, it would just be Arnav and her, as well as Masi. Arnav came down and went into the dining room. He was about to sit down when Masi came in.

"Masi, you," Arna questioned. "When did you come?"

"This morning," she smiled.

Arnav went over to her and hugged her. "Missed you."

"I missed you too, my baby."

Arnav smiled and remembered something. "Oh yeah, have you met my wife, Khushi?"

Both Masi and Khushi looked at him. It was the first time Arnav called her as "his wife" and Khushi was touched.

"Yes, I did," Masi replied.

She looked at Khushi and Khushi smiled.

"Too traditional, don't you think," Masi questioned.

Khushi figured she didn't like her, but ignored it and continued to smile.

"Actually Masi," Arnav said, "she went to Stony Brook."

"What? Stony Brook?"

"Yeah. She has western flare. Trust me," he looked at Khushi in the eyes, "I know it."

Khushi looked down, thinking about their exchange the night before, before everything got intense.

Everyone had breakfast, that is, after Arnav convinced Khushi to sit down with them and eat breakfast. She kept saying no and Arnav said that if she didn't, then he wouldn't eat. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, Khushi sat down, not wanting Arnav to miss his breakfast because of her.

Masi noticed the exchange and didn't like it.

This girl, Masi said in her head, what does she think of herself.

She rolled her eyes and continued to eat breakfast.

"So Chote," Masi said, "what are your plans now?"

"Well' dad texted me this morning; said something about having to tell me something really important and he'll tell me when he gets back. Other than that, I'm going to Florence-"

"You're going to Florence? Meaning Italy? It is beautiful there!"

"I know, that why I booked a hotel there for us."

"Us?"

"For me and Khushi."

Khushi widened her eyes and looked at Arnav, while Masi looked at Khushi.

"Why," Khushi asked.

"Simple. Honeymoon," Arnav smiled.

"Honeymoon," Masi questioned. "In Florence?"

"Yup."

"But I' I don't even know Italian," Khushi said.

"Oh right," Masi said. "I'm sure they don't teach other languages back there, do they?"

"Actually, I learned Spanish here," Khushi said lowly.

"Close enough," Arnav said. "Now, we need to pack our bags."

"What?"

"Yeah. Flight's in the afternoon at 4."

"But-"

"No buts. We're going."

Khushi just shook her head, not able to say back anything else. Masi didn't like it one bit but didn't say anything.

Khushi packed up their bags and when Arnav came into the room, she was done.

"What the? Khushi, did you pack my stuff?"

"Uh' yeah'?"

"Why?"

"Because I did?"

"But they're my bags."

"What are you trying to say?"

"What I mean is you pack your bags and I'll pack mine. Khushi I don't want you to do extra work. I know you're trying to help me out, but it's okay. I know you're just trying to the wifely thing."

Khushi just looked down. "Fine' I'll just keep my hands off your stuff."

She was about to head to the bathroom to change when Arnav stopped her.

"Khushi, that's not what I meant. I just don't want you to do all the extra stuff. From now on I'm going to take care of you, okay?"

"What? Why-"

"I'm your husband, and it's my responsibility to take care of you," Arnav said, cupping her face in his hands. "You left everything for me, now I'm going to fill your life with happiness, okay?"

Khushi just looked up at him. Not only did he call her his wife, but he claimed himself as her husband. She smiled and gave him a hug and Arnav held onto her.

He let go first. "Quickly get ready. We're leaving soon."

Khushi just nodded her head and he let her go and both got ready.
