In India, the life of a girl after marriage changes completely...Is this we call a cultured society..??
Just focus on the following points.

1. She has to leave her house.
2. She has to change her middle and last name.
3. She has to get herself adjusted to new people.
4. She has to cover up her head (this still happens in North Indian states)
5. After one year of the marriage, she is compelled to plan her pregnancy.
6. She is tortured like anything if she gives birth to a GIRL forgetting that the one who is giving birth to a son is also a WOMAN and the sex of the unborn child depends upon the male.
7. She is tortured both physically and mentally for Dowry...
8. She cant wear dresses of her own choice...
9. She has to ask her in-laws before doing anything.
10. She is called the so called IZZAT of the family but gets insulted continuosly in the house.
11. If she cannt bear the above torturing and decides to return her father's house, she is labelled as a spoilt girl...
12. Even after sacrificing everything, she is given inferior place in the society...considered lower than MEN...

There's no 'has to' if you look more closely into a married woman's predicament. It is her own choice and if she didn't choose for her life to be miserable, she'll either make amendments and see to it that matrimony doesn't completely shove her into an identity crisis or she'll lead a miserable life. It's as simple as that.

Culture is changing and evolving. Some of what you said is valid while other seems like a plot from 1980s Movies.

8. She cant wear dresses of her own choice... invalid Really..?? After marrying, she has to ask if she can wear jeans and all..deviating from a norm is not always easy. if I go to africa jungle and marry a girl there and she asks me to wear that straw made attire my family will have a problem. lol. maybe you are talking of a situation where women dont wear jeans and suddenly someone comes and starts wearing jeans and shorts then yes there will be a problem.
9. She has to ask her in-laws before doing anything.  mostly invalid You are living in an ultra modern soc then...she has to do a job or anything..she has to take PERMISSION. no i am not. its about education not modernity.
