No love story without spice on small screen
Amrita Mulchandani, TNN | Nov 10, 2012, 12.00AM IST

Love stories are always a rage on Indian television, but what's one without some spice? So chances are if the storyline focuses on a married lead couple, then trouble usually comes in the form of an attractive male/female character who is in love with the protagonist to add drama. Prime time television is now using the tried and tested 'three's crowd' formula in some of their shows to zing up proceedings.

Not without my ex Marriage is an institution that makes two hearts one, but can it bring two broken hearts together? Lead couple Yash (Gurmeet Chowdhary) and Aarti (Kratika Sengar) of Punar Vivaah — Zindagi Milegi Dobara, who have kids from their first marriage, never seem to be settled in life. Even if romance brews between them, they are uncomfortable with their happiness. Aarti's ex-husband Prashant (played by Vineet Raina) keeps randomly coming back in her life during different phases, making things difficult for the couple. This is one remarriage that's not without its share of ups and downs.

Promises can be broken That should be the tagline of Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, a telly version of Biwi No.1, where the happily married couple Mona ( Mona Singh) and Pradeep's (Pawan Shankar) domestic harmony is disturbed when an old flame, Anushka (Mouli Ganguly) seduces Pradeep and makes him give up on his marriage. Just when you thought Mona would be a sobbing wife, she meets the suave Vineet (Darshan Pandya) falls in love with him and there's marriage in the offing. It's another matter that there will be enough drama, because Pradeep wants her back.

Some vows are forgotten Based on the Hollywood flick, The Vow, in Hongey Judaa Na Hum, Muskan (Aamna Shariff) and Rohan (Raqesh Vashisth) are a madly in love married couple who have their share of fights until an accident results in memory loss for both. Circumstances and scheming families push the couple to divorce. Love comes calling again for Muskan when Dr. Anirrudh (Aamir Ali), falls for her. The twist: Muskan and Rohan are attracted to each other again!

Childhood marriages are not really forever Anandi (Pratyusha Banerjee) and Jagya (Shashank Vyas)'s childhood marriage goes for a toss when he gets married to someone else in Balika Vadhu — Kacchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte. Shiv (Siddharth Shukla) is the new guy in Anandi's life and just when the couple are about to tie the nuptial knot, Jagya returns, to woo Anandi back. Amid a powerpacked series of events, Jagya steps aside temporarily, but hovers in the background. So viewers can continue to expect some trouble from him.

This ishq is not easy This love triangle always revolves around assumptions where couples don't communicate much, but only believes in what they see and make stories in their own mind. In Rab Se Sohna Isshq, Sahiba (Ekta Kaul) is crazily in love with her childhood sweetheart Ranbeer (Ashish Sharma), but he runs away to London on the day of the wedding. Sahiba then marries Daljeet (Kanan Malhotra) and arrives in London in search of her love. A filtered version of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, this story has three protagonists battling their mixed emotions for each other.

Iss confusion Ko Kya Naam Doon? Arnav (Barun Sobti) and Khushi (Sanaya Irani) of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? are star-crossed lovers whose happily married life is threatened when a blast from the past arrives in the form of Sheetal (Madhura Naik). Is Arnav the father of Sheetal's child? Only time will reveal the actual facts on the paternity and whether Aarnav and Khushi will really ride into the sunset together! Amid reports of the male lead taking a 'break' from the show and a possible entry of another male protagonist, the fate of this love story hangs in the balance!

Reel romance Madhubala — Ek Ishq Ek Junoon is yet another hate story turned into love story. First a Bollywood star Rishabh Kundra aka Superstar RK (Vivian D'sena) marries a middle-class girl, Madhubala (Drashti Dhami) to take make her life miserable and ends up falling in love with her. Deepali (Seema Mishra) who is RK's ex-girlfriend enters his life to make some trouble for the newly married duo.

Ex files reloaded Akshara (Hina Khan) and Naitik (Karan Mehra) are your average happily married couple from TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Until Antra (Akanksha Kapil), a former obsessive girlfriend wants him back. Now it is time for Akshara to fight for her marriage and her husband.

Swetha when I read such articles Asa comes to my mind the angad-karishma - akshat formula
Or plain Jane Meenakshi & the prince charming Akshat

And lord DC who would fix them according to track to spice up the requests of fixed audience for the sake of TRP

Well with KHTV things fall apt for the article

Reading what is written about KHTV in the article I do wonder if I watch the same show 😕
Mona is still a sobbing wife stuck in the past, not in love with Vineet and there is no marriage happening!

I agree that every love story on TV needs spice but this show has made a joke of everything including marriage, trust, love and all the rituals. I loved the show in the beginning but after all this un necessary drama and crap I am over it. 🤢

They have turned Mona's character into a joke and tured marriage into a game and also made fun of rituals like Karvachauth. 😡
