Anyway, In simple terms..It's all about self-introspection where you've to make statistical data how you'd spend your life in past 1 year - what you've gain, what you've lost and decide what you wanna achieve in next year -- resolution. Personally, I celebrate festivals from this POV only..Approve..

Very nice post Ami. The others have said it all. Festivals may be celebrated for different reasons but the main purpose is family bonding time. In this day of hectic running around it is only during festivals that we get to meet and catch up on all the happenings. We also engage in a lot of charity by distributing clothes and sweets to our drivers servants etc. They also eagerly wait for this time of the year. The flip side is it is also the time to gain a lot of weight which takes months to shed off. The amount of uncontrolled eating we do  baba re kya kahon... Coming back to the subject, as far as I am concerned I only introspect on New Year about the year gone by and plan what I have to do in the following year.  I do not do that in all the festivals.
