Hi ChanduHug
Awesome post. I have not watched the episode. So I am not sure the context in which Sidhuji used those words. But for me irrespective of gender, age, class, status all men and women should refrain from loud, abusive language unless absolutely necessary. As for Sapna her immaturity, vulnerability and inconsistent explosive behavior needed some preachings. Sidhuji has himself shown lot of graciousness when asked to correct himself. He may sound patronizing but had good intention in mind for Sapna. However his choice of words may offend some.  I think he comes from different generation and it's an old saying ( lajja and stuff) I guess.

Shouting on top of your lungs weakens your own logic and Notion.

Siddhu was absolutely right in pointing Sapna's Mistake. It has nothing to do with lajja
"Lajja aurat ka gehna hai" LOL

My Mother used to say this to me during my college days when some times i used to get annoyed with her and used to raise my voice now I have to do this to my six years old daughter whom I am bringing up in U.S.A, Time has changed so much but the Man mentality to see a women has not and it won't . (It is difficult).

Will see the Entire episode and come up with many more points.

I was thinking the same thing & I am extremely glad that at least someone raised this topic. Yes, I agree with your point. I too disagree with such stereotypical statement "Women's real ornament is Lajja (Modesty)"

Agree with the above

But I agree with Sapna's stance when she applied gulaal to Niketan in anger presuming that he was trying to get close to the gals with the bahana of gulaal lagaoing. I agree that Niketan was chasing Sana only at Siddhu's insistence and had no personal intention of touching her and Sana was thoroughly enjoying the whole male attention, but Sapna does not know this as she was not in the scene at that time. So it is fine with me that she was pissed off by the fact that these guys are using the task as a shield to get touchy-touchy with the gals; and her this thought of standing up for the gals who are idiotic enough not too stand for their own dignity is indeed a part of women empowerment.

Shouldn't she atleast make an attempt to know what the truth is before attempting to speak for the galz. Instead everytime she jums the gun. This happened with Sampat too where immediately she reacted by removing the mike without speaking to Sampat whetehr she wants to really go. I don't want to go towards what Sapna did when she asked people to nominate her and what she did after they nominatde her. My point is women's empowerment does not mean take a stand without knowing what the issue is. It is foolishness. Are you saying people shud take a leaf out of her and when two people are fighting take a split second guess as to who is wrong and go blazing on the other party.

Also her joke on Urvashi, which was enjoyed by Siddhu the most, is also not something that is against the dayras of womenhood; as we all know that it was a mere joke and was totally in good spirits.

I also felt it was not so vulgar. But again a joke is something which shud make people laugh or hurt them. If I make a joke and teh other person is hurt I would atleast apologize for it although its unintentional. Not just run away saying its a joke.

Urvashi trying to restraint Sapna from gulaal lagaoing Siddhuji was part of a task and Sapna's resisting with Urvashi and trying to reach out to Siddhu was also part of the same task. So Urvashi shouting on Sapna for this behavior of hers and Sapna shouting back at her is also definitely not a breach of womanhood.

Agree with the above

But Sapna shouting at Siddhuji that you are dead for me from this day, is definitely not an applaudable thing. Shouting at anyone with these kind of words without any fault of his, is certainly not something to be proud of both by men and women.

Agree with the above

And this is my brief English Translation.

"He was pointing out her mistakes how she was aggressive that day. He basically stated that she shouldn't shout or get violent whether it is Salman or Niketan or him. He said shouting isn't women empowerment, which I agree with him. But then he said that women's real ornament is "lajja", which I do not agree with him at all. That "lajja" crap is outdated. Shows his regressive mindset, again not his fault cuz he is from a different generation. But I do not agree with such tags coming from any man especially in this century"

King Bhaiyya, one would assume you could not watch the entire quote of Sidhu in that Katghara because if you had, there would have been ONE LAST LINE, that entirely changes, even the interpretations drawn in so many subsequent pages after your quote on the top post of this thread.Smile

Here I go...

First. I press my Isko Laga Daala Toh Life Zhinga Lala, Tata Sky HD...Play-Pause-Type-Play-Pause-Type to quote the exact text as spoken (King's version, though covers the gist a great deal;, is actually still a distortion...just pointing out because if you need to dissect, atleast go for quote AS IT WAS)Smile:

"""Physical violence se zyaada----dukh---gaaliyaan pahunchaati hain!-----Main aapko phir bata doon------Physical violence ke ghaav bhar jaate hain-------------is baat ko yaad rakhna------------lekin, jo ASHLEEL SHABDON KE GHAAV HAIN...(he is referring to Sapna's you are a coward---aap mere liye marr gaye hain outburst)-------woh umr bhar--dil mein---naasoor ban-ke rehte hain------------------aur woh sorry kehne se theek naheen hote--------------------------kai baar--jo jazb aur jabt...BADA BHAAI karta hai-----uska matlab ye naheen hai, ki uske andar koi bhaavna naheen hai! When you read the sentence--Jis aurat mein lajja naheen---ASHLEELTA HAI---------------------------------that itself settles it fair and square!Tongue

In the context of his complete statement, what it obviously means is one who doesn't exercise restraint in her approach...is crude and loud in her way of speaking...(her because he is addressing it to Sapna)...needs guidance (counseling / support..call it what you may).

In this conversation ASHLEELTA doesn't mean starring in porn films just as LAJJA doesn't mean coyly looking at your toe nails and blushing non stop!

Atleast quote the full quote Sir ji...Tongue
