Between the crosses, row on row,

In the US, this day is called Veterans Day. 
Battle Of Yypres in France was the first time Canadian soldiers proved themselves to be very "courageous". The Germans used gas as an attack on the Triple Entante [Russia-at that time, France & Britain]. While the French and British soldiers fled to save their lives, Canadians were the only ones who strategically came up with a method to protect themselves from the gas and went on. The Battle at Vimy Ridge was a famous battle for Canadians because it was the first time Canadian troops fought under a Canadian commander. Before this, it had always been a British commander hence Canadians felt themselves to be a part of the British army. This battle was the first time Canadian troops developed the sense of being part of a Canadian army.

This is a wonderful tribute for all the men and women that sacrificed their lives.

Wonderful Remembrance day post Jot! :) It's important for all of us to acknowledge and value the pain of those loved ones and the sacrifices of those fallen soldiers. They are the reason for our existence. At such a young age, many of them left earth and their families, just so we could live in peace. Taking a small moment to remember their sacrifice is the least we can do for them.
