Hello Arjunians...back with a new part...was actually planning to write something else...phir socha new year eve hai toh kuch khaas hona chahiye...isiliye yeh likha...i hope u like it...errors ho toh maafi chahthi hoom...

Part 24:

Days passed by….it had been a understood routine that whenever Arjun was free, he would pick Reva from her hospital and drop her at her place…..Casual conversations about the day were their usual topic….

Arjun had truly found a close buddy in Reva……The void in his life was being filled slowly by her companionship…..Till then, he had none to talk to or share his joys and grievances……Now she took up that role….She was a good listener and loved to listen to him more than speaking…..His encounters with criminals, the adventures, the path breaking discoveries he made, he used to share many things with her…..and she would listen to them like a child hearing stories of their favorite super heroes…..Arjun was becoming more of super hero to her……

His narration about Shree and Chotu's comedies used to crack her up……her laughs and smiles filled him up with undescribable happiness too!

She was plain amazed hearing about the cases that ETF handled….their risks and dangerous encounters frightened her at times…..

She was always concerned for him…..and asked him to take care while handling ruthless criminals……He hated to scare her but sometimes, it just slipped from his tongue….Hiding matters from her was becoming real tough to him……

It was newyear eve and it was after a whole week that Arjun came to pick Reva up…..She was waiting for him already……

As they drove….a unsettling silence prevailed which disturbed both…..both were wishing to say something but were hesitant……both wanted to speak up and break the silence….

Arjun didn't know how she would react to what he wished to ask…so he remained silent…after a few moments, Reva spoke up

Reva: saal ka aakhri din kaisa tha?

Arjun: bas as usual….kuch special nahi…..office mein shaam ko ek simple party thi….i didn't wait for it to get over…..yahaan chala aa gaya….

Reva: [regretting] ohh….i didn't know that.…..I mean I wouldn't have called you if I knew that….aapko bathaana chahiye tha na?

Arjun: nahi…its ok….mujhe aise parties mein kuch khaas interest nahi hai….

Reva: mujhe bhi parties mein jaana accha nahi lagtha….

Arjun: [quickly shoots a question] toh harr saal newyear eve pe kya karthi ho?

Reva: me? its like any other day to me…..agar hospital se jaldi nikhli toh ghar pe koyi movie ya book ke saath aaraam se settle ho jaavungi!

Arjun: aaj bhi wahi plan hai kya?

Reva: hmmm…..aisa hi socha hai……

Arjun: main kuch suggest karoom?

Reva: [a little surpised and anxious as to what he is going to suggest] hmm….

Arjun: Ek jagah hai jahaan se newyear celebrations ki fireworks dikhega….. …..bohat khubsoorat nazaara hai…..I am sure tumhe accha lagega……chalogi mere saath??

Reva was a little apprehensive about the plan but she was excited too….she nodded "hmmm….par mujhe pehle ghar jaana hoga….need to change…..i smell like a hospital now!" [She laughs at her own comment and looks at him for his approval]

Arjun: [smiles] hmmm…..main wahi kehne waaala tha…[he laughs now]

They reach Reva's place……He sits on the couch surfing through the channels….She quickly hands him his tea and a few biscuits and hurries to freshen up…..

As he sits there, he wonders how he proposed this plan to Reva…….It was his and Roshni's favorite place during the newyear eve……She used to love walking along the beach hand in hand with him, watching the fireworks in the horizon……waves tickling their feet…..whispering sweet nothings into each others ears…..

He was confused why he wished to take Reva also to the same place………but the same moment, he realized that all such thoughts would leave him in a terrible state of mind enough to spoil the mood of the day!

So, he thrashed his thoughts and comparisons and decides to enjoy the moment and take life as it comes…..At that instant, he saw Reva come out ready to go…..

They leave to the place where Arjun suggested…….

They walk along the beach for a while and the fireworks were just beginning……She loved the place….it had been ages since she came to such places…especially the beach!  She removes her foot wear and holds it in her hand and playfully walks through the water….Initially, he doesn't join her but then the feel of the waves on the feet is the most tempting thing on earth… he couldn't resist it for long….he too starts walking with her……small waves brushing past their legs occasionally….

The fireworks start in full swing…

True to his words, it definitely was the most beautiful sight, visual treat indeed! She enjoyed it thoroughly….

It made the evening magical adding a charm of its own!

As the evening deepened, the crowd was getting thicker………And as they walked along the shore, she gets stuck in between a group of guys….The noise makes it difficult for her to make them move aside and excuse herself…..She becomes a little paranoid suddenly as she also seemed to lost track of Arjun…..it was after a long long time that she was facing such a crowd and was baffled by the intense looks and noise………She felt a little helpless and miserable….as if left blindfolded in a dense forest!

Suddenly she felt a hand grabbing her hand from amidst the crowd securely and assuring her……She was startled and looked up and was relieved to see that it was him…….

A few moments ago, he walked a little ahead and turned back and found her missing……

"Reva kahaan gayi??" he was tensed and looked around…..thats when his eyes caught a glimpse of her struck in between a group who were having their fun time and were in no mood of moving aside and leaving her way…….He walked back towards her…..and held her hand firmly!

He closed his eyes and assured her protectively…."haattiye plzzz….aur unka raasta chodiye…"

His stern authoritative voice was heard instantly and they stepped aside and left way….

He didn't leave her but continued to walk with her towards a less densely crowded area and then spoke up "ab humein chalna chahiye…..bohat beedh hogayi hai!"

She also nodded "haan main bhi wahi kehne waali thi….."

They walk to the SUV…not realizing that their hands remain entiwined still……….It was only when they reached the vehicle, they become conscious of that fact and he lets go of her hand almost immediately…….She is embarrassed too……

In lamho ke daaman mein
In lamho ke daaman mein, paakeza se rishtey hain
Koi kalma mohabbat ka, dohratay farishtay hain
Khamosh si hain zameen, hairaan sa falak hain
Ek noor hi noor sa ab aasaman talak hain

Both are silent for a while during the drive now knowing what to speak or where to start from……

Arjun speaks up to break the awkwardness this time "tumhe pasand aaya??"

Reva: [nodding] hmmm…..loved it! [adds further to lighten the situation] ek boring book ya movie se bach gayi!

Both laugh at that……..and continue their small chit chat till he pulls up near her gate…

She looked at him before getting down……

It wasn't newyear yet….yet he wishes her "Happy New year Reva!"

Reva: Happy new year to you too!

Arjun: [a sparkle in his eyes telling that he was really happy and was unwilling to let go of her or the moment together but he knew that he had to…..] good night!

She just nods and smiles before walking off…….

He drives back home with all the events of the evening playing at the back of his mind……

He had an urge to go back to her and tell her how memorable and wonderful the evening was…..he didn't know why but he felt that undying urge to tell her that…….

She was also feeling ecstatic after the magical evening….As she lay in her bed, she heard the clock strike 12…..She had 2 things in her mind…one was to know if he had reached back home safely and the other was to thank him! She wasn't able to sleep……..

She heard her phone beep….it was a newyear message from him "Naye saal mubaarak ho Reva!"

She smiled and replied immediately "aapko bhi…..aur haan…thanks for the special evening!"

He smiled because she said the same thing which he wished to tell her….

He replied without thinking twice"khaas tha kyun ki tum mere saat thi Reva.."

He didn't know what had got into him but he had to say that else sleep wouldn't have come easily to him…..but he had transferred his sleeplessness to someone else!

Kuch khaas hai, Kuch paas hai,
Kuch ajnabi ehsaas hai,
Kuch duriyan, nazdikiyan,
Kuch hass padi tanhaiyaan,
Kya yeh khumaar hai, kya aitbaar hai,

My note: New year brings with it a lot of hope and expectations...Lets hope the same for Arjun and Reva too...Let this new year bring only happy moments into Arjun and Reva's life!
