Nobody is gloating about anything. This isn't putting men down, it is a natural instinct.

You think I didn't know how controversial my reply can get? But I think enough is enough. Denial and repression may seem to make us feel more "civilized" in the short term but actually attains nothing. It's a natural feeling, I am not ashamed of it. This very awkwardness is why most of the men won't talk this thing with women. I doubt any man would say this face to face to some female. But that's how we are and we know it. But we know we are better than animals, so we just go on in our life behaving as humans.

You think fantasizing about someone is animalistic?

Basically we both agree that homo sapiens as a species are slightly above other mammals and animals capable of thought - in that that homo sapiens can control their physical urges.

Civilization really is all about how well one controls physical urges and learns to co-exist. When we see a piece of bread - the urge might be snatch it up and gobble it down when one is feeling particularly hungry, but civilized behavior would be to share it with others who are equally hungry. Or my favorite example - the urge to go to the loo - civilized behavior dictates that one go to a restroom to relieve oneself instead of on the roads or in someone's living room -  irrespective of how strong the urge is.

Same goes for sexual feelings - if we are to be better than dogs we need to behave accordingly. Now why do I use the Dog analogy - I used to have a dog whom I used to walk every evening. On our way we had to cross the car-parking of the building. Now this fellow had the habit of marking every car it passed by peeing on at least one tyre. Irrespective of whether it needed to relieve itself or not, it would lift up a leg as soon as it approached the next car. Now every time someone says that "men can't help but think of sex every time a good looking girl passes by" I'm reminded of my dog. And I feel sorry that being a man would use that sentence.

edit: ouch and double ouch, I knew I'd committed an unpardonable mistake. Read the highlighted line as follows:

And I feel sorry that anyone, especially a man would use that sentence.

Where feeling uncomfortable in discussing this issue with women is concerned - it really has nothing to do with "women won't understand" - it's got more to do with "men can't explain". Men have this tendency of turning everything they can't handle into a joke - which is why you have gay jokes, MIL jokes, women jokes, priest jokes, boss jokes et al. What cannot be handled is easier converted into an object of ridicule by being converted into a butt for joke.

Fact is men have had things easy for centuries and now when they are being questioned about age-old notions, they find it difficult to get down to brass tacks and have a rational explanation for something that has been socially drubbed into them. Capability to rationalize comes after a certain emotional and mental maturity is attained, social indoctrination begins at an early age.

There really is no such thing as men are like this or women are like that - it is only a question of accepting or questioning your social roles vis-a-vis what your rational mind tells your behavior ought to be.

Maybe because men have a limited vocabulary that doesn't go beyond 3 or 4 letter words? It has to be the way we think language, you see.LOL

Latest studies have found that, on average, a man thinks about sex once every tits seconds!Evil Smile

It's not just men. People in general THINK about sex all the time; It's dependent on the individual on how vocal they are about it. Perhaps females are less vocal?

Are you freaking kidding me - about females being less vocal - and you on IF since when? What is all the mania about - Sobti/Rajputs/Rahejas/D'Sena/GCs and what not all about except that numerous girls/women see a reflection of ideal mate in these toyboys? For that matter why is Ashish Kapor in your DP if you are not besotted with the guy?

Yes members of both genders think about sex - in as much as both feel equally hungry/thirsty/tired/sleepy - it is a normal part of the day and biological cycle. Thinking about sex is really not the problem. My issue is that one gender uses idea to explain away every failing and simple bad upbringing.

Yep - if nobody taught a child to wash the hands after wiping the ass - it reflects bad upbringing, so does the behavior around opposite gender. Inability to control it is a reflection that no one taught the person how to conduct himself in society.

Woaaah there, calm down. Let's address you're outrage one point at a time, shall we?

i. I've been on IF since 2006 if I'm not mistaken, but mind you I'm not here 24/7; and I've aged from a 14 year old to a 20 year old.

ii. the "perhaps" is there for a reason. Keep in mind, I have no idea who the individuals (Sobti/Rajputs/Rahejas/D'Sena/GCs ) you're speaking about are.

iii. My Display picture is of the Vancouver Canucks; the Avatar, I can't recall, It's most likely Ashish as Udayveer, or him with Manyata. The Signature is for my Fanfiction which focuses on the Love Story of Manyata and Udayveer: I wouldn't call it anything near "SEX"; there is a very big categorical difference between "sex" and "romance" That is another debate/discussion for another time.

iv. "Besotted" Since you know ohhh so much about me, I guess you'd know what I'm besotted with: It isn't simply the Actor, or his appearance, its the on screen pairing of the two: Manyata and Udayveer- their story, chemistry, and reluctance with love is what brought on my fandome. Don't have any love towards his new character in another LMYAM. I wouldn't call that as black and white as being obsessed with his appearance. But since you know me so well, we'll go with your theory.

v. If you refer to my comment you'd see that I do answer the question the TM presented, "Why do men think about SEX all the time"; saying it's not just men; both genders THINK about it all the time; I do also point out it depends more so on the individual's personality as to how vocal they are about it. That being said, vocalization- which can be with a stranger, or just in general with a group of friends is a different thing which brings up various components, and God forbid one makes a guess that perhaps one gender might be a little less vocal.

Does that sooth your wounded sentiments?

It seems that way 'coz women think about a lot of unnecessary stuff, while men don't! And when women are talking about their troubles, men might not even be listening and might be thinking about sex then! Though surprisingly, men can easily be distracted from what they were doing if you bring up sex, unlike women! Is that because women don't need sex to be happy and men do? Tongue

It depends on the person to be honest. I know a friend (female) who really does not think about sex at all, but I know another friend (female) who is pretty comfortable with the topic.

So yeah, it depends on the person.

On average though, men are more sex-oriented than females, however I think that it's a pretty big generalisation that they think of just sex...they do think about other important things as well...such sleep LOL
