We have seen many threads regarding how dusshera / navratri is celebrated by Bengalis and South Indians.
Would love to know
1. Meaning of Garba / Dandiya.
2. What is the significance of the dance during Navratri?
3. Are there different types of Garba?
4. What is in the Earthen Pot?
5. Can anyone post Traditional Garba music?
Thank you

Ok guys m not gujju but wil try to answer some. Ok garba means the earthern pot in which the akhand diya means the lamp is placd which burns continuously for 10 days. The reason for placing garba is like during ganesha chaturthi peoples bring ganesha idol and worship like that Garba is considered as mata ji's significance and is placd in every house during navratri. And on dashera day we do visarjan of garba just like idols but here we float garbas in water and see how long it floats and then it sinks. Even i have heard that small girls who are kumaris go to every1s house with little garba with them and sing garbas and peoples offer them sweets (just like in halloween how childrens go house to house and get sweets but here they dont do any fancy dress they just take garba means that earthern pot and sing garba.) now about singing garba means the mata jis prayers which are sung to invite mataji to our house.   Now about dandiya and garba the thing is whoever place garba in their house has to be awake the whole night just like we do in ganesha chaturthi so in order to spent the whole night awake people startd playing garba and dandiya and like that trend developd to play in pandals. Hope it helps.
