'Supernatural' season 8 spoilers: About that 'found footage' episode…

"Supernatural" has been given a chance over the years by The CW to grow and build an audience, and any fan has to be rather grateful for that. Why? It's now giving the executive producers an opportunity to show off more of their creative side than they would have otherwise probably been allowed.

So for one example of this that is certainly interesting, we turn to the photo to the left, which is our first shot of the episode entitled "Bitten" that will air a week from Wednesday. This episode is actually not really going to be about Sam and Dean Winchester, as they are just small players in a story being told by some college students that are investigating some crazy animal attacks in their town. The photo to the left is from the installment, and it shows the most-welcome and rather dapper side to the brothers.

In case you are looking for even more of a formal description here, executive producer Bob Singer had the following to say in a new interview with Zap2It:

"You're living in this found footage, the boys bracketed on either side, in the opening and at the very end … But for 95 percent of the show, you're living in this found footage. [The Winchesters] are in it unknowingly, so it's crazy. It's a really good episode, very compelling, and has great guest stars. It deals with college kids."

While this means that we are really not going to see any of Dean in purgatory for the week, sometimes it is also nice to watch an episode that really works as a work on its own. These sort of installments can occasionally be the best of a series if done correctly, and hopefully this will be something that we see here since "found footage" typically has its lovers as well as those who hate it.

Are you interested in seeing how this hour plays out? If you want to watch a new promo for Wednesday night's episode, all you have to do is visit the story over at the link here.

New, Supernatural Castiel Scoop From Misha Collins

Written by TV Film News Team   // October 16, 2012

New Supernatural Castiel Scoop From Misha CollinsSupernatural: Castiel related scoop from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez

Here's some scoop on Supernatural from Entertainment Weekly's Sandra Gonzalez's The Spoiler Room column, which was posted on 10/15/12.

Sandra, thanks for your Supernatural recaps! Any scoop on the Winchester boys or their trench coat-wearing Angel pal? — Emily

The Winchesters definitely experienced a set back when it came to tracking down the word of God, which, as you know, is going to help them padlock the gates of hell for-ev-er. Luckily, we know that they will have another pair of hands in the fight when Cas re-enters the human realm. (Yes, when.) But as Misha Collins teases, Cas's involvement could put him in major danger. "I think that that's sort of the pivotal object of the season, that's what everyone is after from every realm," he says. "Cas is definitely involved in that process and caught in the crossfire."

Supernatural returns with episode 803, 'Heartache,' on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 9pm on The CW. Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki, and Jensen Ackles.

In episode 803, 'Heartache,' Sam and Dean investigate a string of unusual murders where the victims were all recipients of organs from the same donor. The killer is captured, but things become even more complicated when the brothers find their killer in a trance mumbling an ancient prayer.

Best. News. Ever. Fan favorite Felicia Day is returning to "Supernatural" to reprise her role of Charlie Bradbury in episode 811, "LARP and The Real Girl." As we previously revealed, the episode dives into the fandom underworld of live-action roleplaying. It's a concept the show has explored before in "The Real Ghostbusters," an episode that takes place at a "Supernatural" convention.

Executive producer Jeremy Carver tells us that this time, they're looking at LARPing from a different perspective. "We will be doing an episode that deals pretty heavily with the LARPing universe, different in a way that we've dealt with in the past," he says.

In addition to the highly anticipated return of Charlie, the brave geek-hacker who won over fans last year, we'll also meet Gerard, a LARPer who prefers to be referred to as an "interactive literaturist." He goes a little too far with his fascination with a medieval-style game... and, of course, things don't end well.
