English Vinglish collected a decent 6.25 crore nett in its second weekend as it picked up well on Saturday like it did in week one. The drop in second weekend is 50% which is very good but with collections coming from low levels the overall figures are average. The ten day business of the film is around 25.75 crore nett.
The film has done well in pockets especially in the South. The film is a hit in Mysore while Nizam/Andhra and TNK are also good but the performance in the key bigger markets is not so good. In Mumbai it is fair in Mumbai city and Pune only and with Gujarat and Saurashtra not collecting, the overall figures remain low. | |
Its a similar story in Delhi/UP with select multiplexes in South Delhi having decent numbers but rest of circuit not collecting well. In East Punjab, only Gurgaon is performing while the CPCI Rajasthan belt is poor.
The film is likley to be hit hard in week three as Student Of The Year will provide huge competition especially in the pockets where English Vinglish is doing well. | |

Taran Adarsh Holdover titles #OMG leads, while #EnglishVinglish follows next. Both continue to attract a good chunk of movie-going audience.
