SS : Memories Part 13
Khushi stood staring at the stars...
"I'm fighting a losing battle...why am I even fighting...?" she murmured
Her head ached from all the memories that had been bombarding her subconscious...
Everything from when they were children, to their fights, to the times they cried on each other's shoulders...
She thought back to the day she walked into him, in the rain...
"He saved me...Held me so close...and then, he became so cruel..."
Then she recalled the words of his staff..."...ASR hasn't had a committed relationship since...well...since we all started working here...he won't commit to anyone..."
Khushi knew in her heart that it was because he still loved her...
She knew this man's character...
She knew her best friend...
"I loved him then...and I love him now..."
As soon as she spoke the words out loud, four years worth of pain crumbled away from her heart...
She began to laugh..."He even made me do extra officework just to make me angry! To try and make me remember our past quarrels!"
Turning around, she looked at the clock...
"What the!? I've been standing here thinking for hours..."
It was now past midnight and she knew she should sleep...
She could always tell him of her decision in the morning...could tease him the way he had been teasing her...
"No...that's not...not me..." she said smiling...
He had always been the one to tease her, to frustrate her...
She had always been the one to speak her mind, to drive him to the point of insanity...
Again she began to laugh..."I have missed this...I have missed him..."
...
Sleep eluded Arnav as well...
He knew that she was afraid of losing love again...
But now...
"Now she's afraid to love again?"
More than anything, he wanted to pull her into his arms, kiss her into submission, give her his word that there was nothing more to fear...but he knew, better than anyone else, what it was like to 'need time to think'...
He pushed himself up off the bed and paced around feeling more and more frustrated...
"God...I want her back...I know she's nervous, I know she's cautious, but can't she SEE that I only held on this long - for her!?"
Arnav felt as though he was back to his teenage years, when she used to drive him mad with all her confusing quirks...
And at that memory his anger fled...
"She was such a maniac..." he said smiling...
Raking his fingers through his hair, he sighed...
"And for you, my little maniac, I will wait forever..."
Trudging back to his bed, he was about to lay back down, when he heard a soft knock on his door...
His curiosity perked up...
He looked at the clock, "It's so late...who...?"
As his thoughts ran rampant from interest to worry over who would be outside his door...
He stepped forward and pushed open the door...
Wearing white, and looking like and angel, the woman he loved stood before him...
Finally finding his voice, his voice cracked as he said..."Hi..."
"I...I need to talk to you..."
Leaning in, Arnav took her hand in his and drew her into the room, closing the doors behind her...
His room was dark and Khushi gripped his hand as she stepped backwards seeing the shadows...
Arnav saw her step back against him...
Still keeping his hand linked to hers, he quickly wrapped his arm around her waist...
Behind her, Arnav rested his chin on her shoulder and held her close...
"Sorry, I know it's dark...give me a minute..."
Arnav led her forwards again until he reached the bedside lamp...
Golden light flickered through the room and when he turned, he felt short of breath...
"You are...so...so beautiful..."
Feeling suddenly shy, she moved slightly away, but he gently laid his hand on her shoulder...
She stopped mid-step and turned her head.
He moved in front of her and laced his fingers with hers...
He'd only touched her hand and it was taking all his control to not pull her tight against him...
Her innocence, and her pure beauty was taking his breath away...
He tipped her head to the side a little...
"Arnavji...I...I have something very important to tell you..."
Her eyes were wide and luminous...
Lifting his hand to her face, Arnav gently moved his fingers along her cheek...
She was warm as he touched her, and he swore she leaned into his palm slightly...
Leaning down to her, he rested his forehead against hers, their lips were almost level...
"Arnavji...I...I love..."
He didn't know how it happened, whether it was she who tilted towards him, or if he was drawn into the kiss by the feel of her warm breath...
Still, his mouth met hers...
Long kisses...
Languid kisses...
He wanted to lose himself in kissing her...
Pulling back briefly, he whispered..."I was...praying you would say that...?"
He took her mouth again, and she yielded in his arms...
She tasted of cinnamon...
His breathing was ragged as he kissed a trail down her neck...
"Arnavji...I wanted to say that I...ohhh..."
She began to moan as Arnav's mouth opened up on her neck, sucking deep kisses from her skin...
Her body arched against his..."Ar...Arnavji, I can't...can't think when you do..."
His arms slid around her more possessively...
She felt so right against him, so perfect.
"What did you want to say...?" his voice was gruff...
"I was going...to say that I..."
She broke off yet again when Arnav slammed his mouth back onto hers, kissing her with all his pent up passion...
He could feel her body coming to life, recognizing wants that she never understood before...
He could sense her desire in the tension of her fingers that were gripping hard onto his shoulders...
"Arnavji..." she said shakily..."You're doing this on purpose...I can't think, much less speak...and I came here to tell you that I..."
He set his finger over her lips...
"No..." he told her softly..."Let me say it first to you, right here and now...I love you Khushi...I love you...I love your passion, your strength, your character, your heart..."
Khushi could no longer hold back her tears..."I love you too..."
And instead of swooping in and kissing her, he lifted her hand to his lips and placed a kiss on her palm...
"I know you are still cautious...I know you are still scared...and we can take this as slowly as you would like...I only ask to be with you...I am committed to you Khushi..."
"...Really?"
His eyebrows went up..."I've never stopped being yours...And you have always been mine..."
Khushi laced her arms around him and hugged him fiercely...
She felt his hands roaming over her back in calming circles...
Arnav felt her yawn against his shirt...
He bent down and hooked his arm under her knees and lifted her into his strong embrace...
"What are you doing?"
"I'm taking you back to your room...you're tired...and you need rest..."
Arnav set her down outside her bedroom door...
"Goodnight..." she said with a shy smile...
"Sleep well sweetheart...because...you have a lot of work to do tomorrow, and I'm your boss..."
Khushi's jaw dropped as she gasped at his smug statement.
But before she could retalliate, he swiftly pressed his mouth to hers, kissing her hard...
And almost as suddenly, he let her go, smiled, and walked back to his room...
15 mintues later...
As both hearts waited for sleep to overtake them, they began to recapture the memories of their love...
