The gigantic gate opened to a majestic building made up of superimposed red bricks which gave it a traditional, yet eye-striking exterior. It extended over an impressive geographical span that made the campus one of the biggest in India 'the University of Delhi was renowned for its first class education and ranked among the very top. Anyone would have been impressed by the reputational aura that emanated from such a prestigious university, but somehow there was one individual who was the least enthralled by the institution.
Standing in front of the gate, he was sharply scrutinising each and every detail of the institution, before entering the university premises. It simply was him, a tad bit fussy and perfectionist, Arnav Singh Raizada. His name itself conveyed a particular sense of authority and superiority that had shaped his personality likewise. Dressed in a neatly ironed white shirt where creases would be doomed if they were to be found and blue denim jeans, Arnav quickly ran his fingers through his fluffy black hair that he had extensively gelled on the front side. With his stylish pair of shades and a cross-shoulder posh bag, he was ready for a new beginning.
The hustle bustle of the morning was at its peak with students rushing to be punctual for their first lecture, rushing to meet their friends, rushing to the canteen or in short rushing to enter the world of studies, friendship and even fun for some. It wasn't the first day of university'around one more month and the academic semester would end. But it was the first day for Arnav and he had come to the University of Delhi for a totally different reason'
***Beginning of flashback***
In a fit of extreme anger, Arnav threw his phone on the couch, and paced frantically in the living room waiting for her to come.
"How dare she break up with me, and that too announcing it through a message?" Arnav murmured to himself, looking for something around to break.
He was about to lift the flower vase, when his eyes posed on her. He rushed towards her and took her by the hand and started shouting:
"What is the meaning of wanting to break up Lavanya?"
"Listen ASR, I have thought about it for long!! You don't love me, you just like me! And even I don't love you! It's just that we enjoyed each other's company, that's it! Once I graduate, I am going back to London!" Lavanya retorted.
"What the hell, Lavanya! But I love you!" Arnav responded.
"No, you don't! You cannot love anyone! Just have a look at yourself ASR'so short-tempered, self-centred, full of ego, how do you intend loving someone? You don't know what love is! I cannot commit the mistake of being in a relationship with someone like you! And this, I have realised when you were in the States, far from me" Lavanya blasted, before leaving the Raizada Mansion and Arnav.
***End of flashback***
For the next one week, Arnav had tried all possible ways to win her back using his riches, but all his attempts failed. To top it all, Lavanya was busy studying in her university, which made it all the more difficult for him to meet her. His Anjali Di and Nani, who were not very fond of Lavanya, had made it a must to convince him to move ahead, but Arnav took it as a self-challenge to win her back.
This was the only solution he had found: coming to her university to be closer to her and bring her back into his life, this was at least what Arnav thought. Arnav was a graduate from Harvard, and had even specialised himself in a postgraduate doctorate, and still he was here at the University of Delhi, with the excuse of a one-month course at the end of the final-year semester. At the age of 24, he was slowly building up his own empire, AR designs with the help of his cousin brother and his uncle.
The fact that he was one bright guy made things easier, in the sense that he had managed to convince the Chancellor that he needed to make a research on fashion designing in India, which clearly was his field of specialisation. In that way, he would be in the same class as Lavanya, who was studying a bachelor degree in fashion designing and he promised himself that during this one month, he would prove to Lavanya that he was the one meant for her.
Arnav was brought back to reality with a disturbing sound that looked like a horn, immediately dismissing it and making a move to cross the threshold. The horn became more pronounced coupled with a voice shouting, "Hello Mister, move! You are blocking my way! I am talking to you Mr.Deaf!". Arnav instantaneously turned around and saw a scooter speeding towards him, and luckily he was fast enough to move sideways. His eyes moved along the scooter which stopped with a screeching sound in the parking lot, and Arnav rushed to give the scooter driver a piece of his mind for driving so recklessly and calling him deaf.
Removing the helmet, she hopped from the scooter, the pompoms on her short sleeved Kurta dangling on both sides. With her hands which were adorned by colourful bangles, she straightened her long black hair which had rebelled under the effect of the helmet, and she attempted to wipe off with a steady move the creases on her Kurta and her Patiala Salwar. Her porcelain-like face was accentuated by the Kohl that gave her eyes a profound look and a glittering bindi adorned her forehead.
"Are you mad?" Arnav asked, still looking at her multi-coloured get up. It's an offence to classy fashion, he thought.
"Not mad ' Khushi! I am Khushi!" Khushi expressed enthusiastically in her natural way. She was of the bubbly and fun-loving types, and a personified chatterbox too. Soon she muttered: "Useless people! Along with being deaf, he is blind also, that's why he is wearing the shades when there is not even an ounce of sunshine!"
"Excuse me, are you calling me deaf and blind? How dare you?" Arnav replied, anger brewing within him.
"How dare you, you! No one speaks to Khushi in this tone! Lower your voice!" Khushi snapped, while bringing her finger down.
"Are you trying to show me attitude?" Arnav asked angrily, dangerously approaching Khushi who stepped backwards apprehending his next move, but still remained straight.
"Look, Mr I don't know the name yet and whom I don't want to know neither! I have no time to argue'I love chatting but certainly not with the number one Badtameez person ever! I am late for my morning lecture, and I am going to land into trouble!" Khushi speedily responded. Noticing that he was not backing off, Khushi resorted to one of her many antics, and let out "Your shoe laces are undone".
As soon as Arnav glanced at his shoes, Khushi fled at a supersonic speed, sniggering as she ran far from him, both unaware that their paths would cross yet again.
