aditit good choice indeed sitaji is the most courageous and self reliant woman
ever written in any hindu epic...its great choice
QUOTE=minizz]Piu,thank you for the info I had read a lot of stories about this.Ravana was a well versed pandit,an accomplished musician and a huge shiv bhakt. He was also a benevolent king to his praja...his people were happy under his rule.If only he had remained humble and had not dared to covet another man's wife which proved to his downfall.Ravana is an important character.Without him there would be no Ramayana.I would love to see someone show us his side of the story.I always wanted to see that.
Aditi,I agree with you. That is my only grudge against the main character.Sitaji had to suffer so much. She was a princess and after marriage a queen but she had spent most of her life in the jungle or in captivity.I can never get over the fact that even after the agni pariksha(which was totally not needed)she was banished.I don't want to say anything more negative but that one thing always stops me from appreciating the hero of this story.Sorry if I offended anyone. It was not my intention.I am just stating my personal opinion.

ok so i guess urs fav is sita too
k and little piece of clarification for lord rama many of us consider him as unfair husband pricesly a weak husband well lord rama wasnt a weak husband he wasnt the one who send Sitaji to exile but it was his ppl who wanted to banish sitaji'''... acutally ramayan and uttar kand is not about the banishment of sitaji but about the sufferrings and hardship that ram and sita ji went to attain that perfect ramrajya"...Lord rama was a king and as a king he was bound to fullfill...the wishes of the ppl... ramrajya was truly the democractic kingdom that is of the ppl for the ppl and by the ppl and the king was not the god but the servant of his ppl his work was to establish peace and harmony and resepect everywhere...look at the irony of the ppl of tretra yug... god descended down in the earth in form of ram and sita ppl instead of worshipping and following their principles ppl started blemishing sitaji as she was abducted...instead of considering her as goddess they badmouthed her... ppl always get what they deserve. ...they wished to send sita to exile and rama being a king being a father of nation was bound with karma he had to respect their wishes he sent sitaji to exile... it was his way of telling how the wrong deed can lead to the drastic consequences...ppl failed to recognize the glory of sitaji and the consequences were dreadful...their king suffered in pain and agony and their mother like queen had to leave the earth...and it finally lead to the end of ram rajya which is considered as heaven in earth...the god and the goddess asecended back to the heaven...still ppl carve for that ram rajya... for ram... for sita but is it possible to attain ????no coz ppl always get what they deserve ??? in turth ppl still dont deserve lord rama and goddess sita ...lord rama had said utnil the glory of the woman will not be recognized until there will be agni pareeksha and disrespect for the woman there can be no ram rajya...
there is interesting research about Lord rama's agni pareeksha..wen ram ji took sita ma's agni pareeksha hanuman and lakshman particularly showed their discontent...wen ramji inquired about it lakshmanji said "y did u do so u r exemplary man ur deeds are followed if u will take the agni pareeksha of the woman wont every one follow the same principle wont it lead to chaos and distrust?...Lord rama said "i took agni pareeksha not to support this cruel ritual but to abolish this ritual forever...how u will get to know later"
later on wen ppl demanded sita to send to exile there was the council of minister vs the council of ppl to discuss on this issue
council of ppl strongly supported that queen sita went with ravana on her own consent while council of minister said no she was abducted
council of ppl demanded the testimony had anyone seen ravana abducting sitaji
lakshmana came forward and said only jatayu had seen it but he is dead
council of ppl rejected it and said he is dead we want a living proof they asked lakshmana "y did u leave sitaji alone don't u know it was forest and the demons reside there y didn't u do anything before leaving sitaji alone"
lakshmana said" I drew the line which is impossible for any god demigod animal demon any living nonliving creature to trespass"
council of ppl said that means sitaji crossed that line on her own will
council of minister pleaded that she did it becoz she don't want to offend the holy ascetic''
to which the council of ppl replied "what kind of ascetic was he'who came in the absence of men and knowing that a line was drawn to protect her y did he insisted to cross the line no noble sage does that that's adharma y did sita not once doubted the authencity of that sage'.we don't consider such person as astetic...
The
only other credible evidence that needed to be looked at was Agni Pariksha.
While Sita had testified that to prove her loyalty and chastity she had
successfully undertaken Agni Pariksha test, peoples representative argued that
this age old ritual did not in any way certify the loyalty or chastity of any
woman. It was true that it required some special skills but those skills in no
way certified the loyalty or chastity of a female. They requested that
this test for such purpose be abandoned and hence forth decision on such
matters may be taken on the bases of physical evidence.
The Royal representative informed that Agni Pariksha was the noblest of the
Maryada (best tradition) prevailing at that time and only very chaste, pious
and pure person could have passed this test. What more, they argued, it had
religious sanctity and while other evidence might lack corroborative witnesses,
Agni Pariksha was performed by Sita in front of entire army. Agni Pariksha,
they felt can neither be ignored or rejected by the King.
After listening to arguments of both sides, King Ram REJECTED the results
of Agni Pariksha He further said that it is true that, as a King, it is
difficult to reject the result of Agni Pariksha, because it has religious
sanctity, but he would like to go with People's representative in as much that
although Agni Pariksha required special skills, but those skills in no way
certify the loyalty or chastity of the lady. He DISOWNED SITA AND TOLD HER
TO GO WHERE EVER SHE DESIRED TO GO.
He also declared that hence forth Agni Pariksha will not be used for certifying
or testifying the loyalty or chastity of a female.Use of Agni Pariksha will be
deemed to be an act of ADHARM and NOT an act of dharm, he declared''.he
further added the lakshmana rekha (which is known maryaada of a woman ) shouldn't
be ignored and wen the woman transgress that she herself becomes responsible of
her own destiny so she should avoid crossing certain rules and regulations of
the society thirdly any person who compels a woman to go against the wishes of her
parents and in laws (one who persuade to transgress the lakshman rekha) will
not be consider ascetic however noble he is hence woman are under no compulsion
to serve tht person
We the mortals know that Shri Ram was an incarnation of
Vishnu and Sita that of Goddess Lakshmi. They performed this Leela so that
humanity may never have to suffer such dastardly acts in future.
IT IS ALSO ABSOLUTELY CLEAR THAT SHRI RAM COULD NOT HAVE DISOWNED SITA WITHOUT
REJECTING AGNI PARIKSHA.
After becoming Chakravarti Samraat, Shri Ram ordained that humanity, present
and future, would never ask any female to undergo this test. Perhaps this was
the first Dharm of the much cherished RAMRAJYA. What were the other Dharm, we
would like to know.
Goddess Sita also set the example by returning to the earth that the self respect of the woman is greater than the worthy husband like Lord rama'.
I hope it helped😳
