Yeah, that would have been great.😊
But then, a lot many things would not have happened. Would that necessarily have been a good thing?
Recall that hardly a year or so out of Shri Ram's stipulated 14 years of forest stay remained when he came to Panchvati.
And Shri Ram had decided that he will spend this last year in his ashram at panchvati & won't travel any further, and before the year ends, he will return to Ayodhya because Shri Bharat had said that if he comes late by even just a day, he won't find Bharat alive.
Now let us conjure up two hypothetical scenarios.
If Shri Sitaji hadn't crossed that Lakshman rekha, two things could have happened.
One, Ravan could have waited outside the cottage for Ram & Lakshman to return, thinking that once he kills those two humans in battle right there, then certainly Sita will run out of her cottage, crossing the Lakshman rekha, & he will then be able to abduct her. In this case, Shri Ram would have definitely killed him that day at Panchvati.
Or two, if he had waited outside the cottage long enough, he might have got this idea in one of his ten heads that when I'm unable to cross a line drawn on ground by one of those two humans, fighting both of them after they return sounds like a bad idea, and he would have returned to Lanka.
