why dont they say anything about men..

coz i always hear tall dark handsome in movies even in serials..

does anyone remember the serial SAAT PHERE - which was about a darker skin girl whom everyone rejected and even said they are doing favour to get her married to their son.. n making her bahu eventhough they might get dark children..

nothing wrong with having personal choice, but for the love of god, dont generalize your opinion and make it a biblical truth ...

even Ash refused to endorse fairness cream! Tongue

i remember sometime back there was an ad of a fairness cream with pc saif and neha...many criticized PC for not being proud of her color!! and promoting such an ad!

i found this about PC

NEW DELHI: Priyanka Chopra, who went to high school for a few years in Boston, said she faced racial issues there as some fellow students called her "browny" and pointed a finger at her for being an Indian.

In an inspiring speech at the India Today Mind Rocks Youth Summit last evening, the 30-year-old actress took a crowd of hundreds of students through her life's journey from being "gawky kid" to a Bollywood star.

"I was living in Bareily, from there I went straight to Boston and joined school there. I didn't know how to fit in. Also, I faced some racial issues. Some girls called me 'browny' and I was typecast, pointed a finger at for being Indian," Priyanka said.

The bullying ensued into a fight and Priyanka was suspended from school for three days.

But the actress said going to school in America was a huge lesson in life as it taught her to be more confident.

Delivering a speech on perfection, Priyanka said she is not perfect and it's okay to be flawed as "long as you are being yourself.

"My life was an epitome of imperfection. I'm not perfect like Aishwarya Rai, beautiful, stunning. I was a gawky kid, only thing I knew was to work hard and learn. I didn't know how to act or win a beauty pageant. My career has been instinctive, but every situation taught me something."

The former Miss World also said that life is all about taking chances and it's not worth living if there are no risks involved.

"Today I have the courage to do a commercial, mainstream film like 'Barfi!', when half of India doesn't even know what autism is. But I have the courage to take that chance."

"Barfi!", where Priyanka is playing an autistic girl, is set to release on September 14, a day after her debut international single 'In My City' is set to be unveiled.

"I am nervous about both 'Barfi!' and my single coming together. I don't know which one will people like. It's a chance I am taking and a new journey I am embarking on. I have worked with the world's biggest music label, Interscope, for this album. The single is also going to be the theme song for National Football League (NFL)," she said.

The song 'In My City', featuring Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am, is Priyanka's tribute to all the cities she grew up in.

Indian males, are not the only ones who are in antagonism with females who happen to have dark skin, the females are no less. Ever witness the bitchy aunties sitting down playing tea cups  and having their daily dosage of entertainment on whose son/daughter is good-looking or unappealing based on colour of skin? It's sad and hard to digest how some people's minds work, but that's humanly. We are all flawed. Infact why only Indian men and women, prejudice based on the colour of an individual's skin exists in the Asian culture. It's a shallow world out there and more are the people living in it. In terms of the Bollywood industry, being 'fair' for some weirdly odd reason seems to trigger the rising hormones of some people, apparently beauty for some people is based on one's fairness. I've seen allot of fair people, and from what I have come across, some fair people are not attractive at all, it's the facial features which matters, and should hold of importance. In Relation to the language of Bollywood I quote 'Looks sell business. That's how it works'. I fail to understand as to why the desi nation is obsessed with fair skin. The gora's become all potty and sunbathe for hours in order to get a tan, and here these fools go all gaga over snow white. The whole thing is preposterous and makes individuals with the fairness craziness come across as very shallow and insecure. During the process of marriage fixation i have witnessed many people taking in the skin colour of the girl before looking at any other characteristics. That itself is very disturbing.

I dont think it still exists in the younger generation... I know people now like and prefer olive-wheatish-dusky colored. I know some guys going gaga over dusky coloured girls .

This preferance for fair white bleached complexion was in older generations..

Personally, any colour white/wheatish/dusky/dark looks great, if the skin glows and if the skin is healthy. People need to developed a healthy way of looking at colours.

Remarks against girls on the basis of skin colour does exist, especially if a girl is dark(not PC or Bipasha color, i'm talking about much darker colour) ..well, their thinking is too medieval and it's pitiful they have such a degraded view :)

I'm not quite sure about that. Yes there may be some who prefer the olive-wheatish complexion, but i know so many people (from the younger generation) who are not happy with their complexion. Numerous girls Photoshop their pictures before uploading them on FB and other social net working sites. My 11 year old cousin sister complains about 'how dark' she has become, its sad to see how all this fairness wacko is having a negative influence on little children.

So true it happens in my fam as well. My baby cousin is a girl n she is just 8 months. My aunt keeps complaining that her daughter is dark when the baby is wheatish color. The whole fair color addiction starts from ever since a baby is born even I use to feel ashamed of my dark skin tone but now I am just happy the way I am.
