Dear Varsha,

I agree with your take on all this; it is spot on.

As I have noted in one of my posts above, I always knew that Purvi  would ditch Arjun for her aai, just when he least expected it, but what I did not expect was that she would  be so underhand and so unfeeling about it.

When she sees an opening to secure her mother's future at his expense, she sells him down the river, after not only breaking all those saath nibhana promises she had made, but after asking him, when she calls him from the beauty parlour Mujhpe vishwas karte ho na? The last was, to  my mind, the worst betrayal of all.

She lies to him,  traps him and coshes him emotionally, and like the fool he is, he falls headlong into it. It is all very well to blame him for doing so, but the fact is that if he had not been a deewaana,  he would have given her 2 tight slaps and walked out after throwing her ring in her face.

See, nowhere in all the mutual admiration sessions between Archana and Purvi over the latter's super mahaan tyaag,  has either been shown sparing even a single thought for what this mahaan beti has condemned Arjun to for the rest of his life. Not one word. It is as if he is expendable, like a Kleenex.

The way Purvi speaks to him when he turns up at her doorstep yesterday betrays the same mentality: she has got what she wants and she does not want him to make any trouble with Ovi for then Ovi might back out of her part of the deal re: accepting Archana. There is not even a  twinge of involuntary pain in her face at the sight of what he is obviously going thru. All she wants is to push him out pronto.

She never was Juliet-material, this girl, but now she has touched rock bottom. If I were Arjun, I would never trust her again, and with my heart the least of all.

Shyamala dear Good topic and i agree on your starting post...Have been reading some of the other posts but not all as time cosuming and eye issues...Age is creeping up yaar..
Kalapi, kools fab posts..  Totally agree with you on underlined...NEway my thoughts as I have observed PR for 3 yrs almost..

I just wrote this is Bee's topic and thought I paste it here...Its about Purvi and how she is constructed by one and only mommy dearest Archana, inherited from Queen be Sanskar ki devi Sulo..Not sure anyone has had a chance to read this...

Bee Archana adopting or picking Purvi up from the accident scene was totally replacement for her own kids...She has put so much importance on how Purvi has been able to keep her going even after Archana losing her marriage and kids...

We all know the type of pressure, expectations being imposed on a child indirectly or directly???? Cry For freaking 18 yrs...My baba my baba...But never abt siblings (Bio kids) or else Purvi would have know it was not kosher to hook up with sister's ex fiance...Embarrassed

Archana is Narcisstic mother...I can do no wrong, I am right, I know it all, I sacrificed, I am Sanskari etc crap has been fed to her tiny little brain by Sulo the Queen B of sanskars...And same has been inherited by Purvi...Embarrassed

Like a master mind and cold blooded sadistic person Purvi planned the whole thing...She arranged it all, decked up for wedding, called Arjun, Called Ovi, Arranged for Pundit to do wedding ritual, and than stood there & watched them get married...You tell me is that not someone sadistic & having a master mind? Archana did same with Shravni...and People blamed and hated Shravni...How and Why? Confused

Archana calls this tyaag-balidaan? How?Angry

Ovi had put a deal in front of her...Ovi was supposidly committing suicide again...whether she would have or not is another topic but Ovi did not FUP with purvi abt her deal on the day of the wedding...She even accepted manav's lie abt going to the wedding to help DK...
So had Ovi not heard from Purvi she was not going to go crash the wedding asking Purvi to give her Arjun back...I would not blame Ovi here..

Yeah she did make a deal...Purvi did not have to accept or go thru it...

Purvi made a deal Arjun did not have to accept & go thru it.

But if Ovi gets a call from Purvi w/o Ovi's insistance than how is it her fault for marrying Arjun...Purvi gave Arjun away like yesterday';s trash...Purvi's trash was Ovi's treasure...
Arjun did not have to accept...he should have packed his bags and taken the flight back to canada...ovi would not have even known abt what Purvi asked Arjun to do...

Marriage would have been cancelled...End of the story..

Archana defo gets a blame for the crap she was telling Purvi abt tyaag and balidaan...These 3 women in K home has loose screws...They should not be married to any men...Men lose their manhood after marrying these type of women...They simply become ULLUs and Lallus..Embarrassed

Shyamala dear, you know the problem right now I have with Prince Arjun, it is his 'never ever" about giving Ovi the status of a wife. The problem with this is partly 2 fold. Although Ovi did put forward a deal to Purvi to get Arjun, now with his sudden character strength and enlightenment, he decides not to give wife status to Ovi. This will make Ovi that absolute keema between this 2 'ex-lovers as both tries to jump higher and higher just to prove that they were right? Even though Ovi made the deal (and I happen to be one of the people who don't really think a third person can't break a relationship if the foundation is strong, so Ovi's guilt is rather extremely small in my POV, and can't be compared to either Arjun or Purvi), she never  expected this turn of events.

Arjun did agree to the marriage, there wasn't a gun to his head. So, after making a conscious choice he decides to punish Ovi just because she happen to love him and ready to do anything to get him. Now that he doesn't start concentrating on his relation with Ovi, what next??? This only lead him on towards Purvi, like a fly that is irresistibly drawn towards a flame'isn't that disastrous???  Unless, of course, Dk decides to take Arjun/Ovi back to Canada and the rest, including Purvis stays back in India and interactions are minimized. Situation of this sort could have happened anyway the moment both sisters felt for the same man, and Archu (Manav) decides to support either.

Now, regarding Ovi suicidal attempt being fake I personally don't think so (although, the attempted second suicide as well as the first was a very shoddy job by the Cvs indeed). She just to me, appears to be a girl who loved her Arjun, that is all. The wedding night conversation was a glimpse of the old, a tat bit self-assured arrogant Ovi who was successful at her endeavor... 'I happen to have seen people who are not bad but just has a tad bit of arrogance, esp. students from some premier institutions'well, I think you get it'anyway, Cvs are pretty faithful towards her character so far, and I, for one didn't think that the marriage was a drama or that she will not accept Archana as aai ' I was fairly sure she would'...

Dear Shyamalaji,

The quotation I wrote was from Paulo Coelho,Brazilian lyricist and novelist and added mine for Purvi and Arjun.

Yes, the Love quotation of the Bible is in 1corinthians13

If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but do not have love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't have love, I gain nothing. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.Love never gives up.Doesn't have a swelled head, Always looks for the best.

Dear Mandy,

Thanks ever so much, my dear, but let us forget about Arjun and Purvi and PR for a moment and concentrate on your very apt quotation from the Bible. Is it from the Epistle to the Corinthians? I am very weak in the matter of biblical quotations, and you are so very good at it that I am constantly learning something new from you.

Dear Shyamalaji,

I didn't realize how apt the title of PR this week is Purvi deconstructed:) Love with all my heart..Loved every post here.

Arjun ,Purvi ,Ovi is in a place where they have done that, been there and will never be the same again,oh what a holy mess, which is so deep, wide, big and so tall and I am not sure how CVs are going rebuild their broken world!

It is a permanent scar! They all have OCD problem and need good help or maybe I need to ( still stuck here bc of ArVi's past magic)

I like the new version Arjun ( I think we were all hungry for a real man:) When Arjun was under the spell of Purvi mania I thought we lost the man in him ( is it too harsh for me to say this?) But yes, each needs to face their own music because each one is responsible for their choices under no circumstances I won't blame anyone or upbringing and situations.

So I would quote Paul C for Ovi ' Do not seek to be loved at any price ,because Love has no price

My addition for Purvi ' Do not seek to sell love  at any price ,because Love has no price

Same goes for Arjun ' Do not seek to accept any deal of love at any price, without using your left brain because Love has no price

Kalapi my dear,

As regards your last para, you were right and I was wrong in thinking that Ovi would welsh on her part of the deal. I confessed as much in my first post on the mahaepisode, in this thread, when I noted that "I misjudged Ovi  in that I thought she was going to weasel out of her  promise re: Archana, but it is no such thing, and she is in fact going at it full tilt, in large part because she feels that if that does not happen, Arjun will never accept her. Whatever her reason, she is working at it from both ends."

Secondly, I was glad that in the scene between Arjun and Purvi yesterday, he showed that he was just as angry about Purvi's underhand dealings in the matter as he was about Ovi's deal. As I had mentioned in the opening part of my main post in this thread, he would have minded what Purvi has done to him much more than anything Ovi has done, for Purvi had said she loved him and promised never to leave him, and she broke every one of those promises in such a cavalier fashion. Ovi owes him nothing.

What is worse, Purvi fools him right till the very end by exploiting his weakness for her. Remember how she asks him, when she calls him from the beauty parlour, Mujhpe vishwas karte ho na? The last was, to  my mind, the worst of all.

And nary a word or even a thought for what she has put him through. Yesterday, all she is thinking about is pushing him out the door, and  she is afraid that if he is unkind to Ovi, Ovi will renege on their deal. as I wrote to Varsha, she was never Juliet-material,but this is the pits.

As for Arjun, I feel that having married Ovi, he cannot ditch her the way Purvi has ditched him. Right now he is livid with anger towards both of them, but he knows that it is Purvi whose betrayal is the greater of the two, precisely because she was his apni.

Let us see how things develop.

See this is how I  look at it .

Faultwise :

1 ]  Purvi : She is the biggest offender of all bcoz she dumped Arjun ruthlessly at the altar and killed the so called true  love story  by trading him for her mother . The way she did it is more awful than the deed  itself . She mulled over it , decided to not give him time to think , decked herself up in the parlour , told him her decision and used the correct terminology to make him concede ...' test of love' and then stood there to see him married  off ...that her part of the deal was kept ...so anxious was she that he did not have second thoughts at the last minute . Then , ensuring the deal went through she insisted it was ' not her fault' to her mother in the weepfest where they all applauded each other for their so called  sacrifices and then proceeded anxiously to ascertain that the deal was still on by phoning Ovi late in the night although the phone call  could easily have been done in the morning .

2 ]  Arjun :   He is second  in this  fault  line ...his biggest fault was loving  a girl who was simply not worth it . He suffered a horrific insult ... getting dumped at the altar . But he had an option ...going back to Canada  and never getting involved  with this girl again as obviously she flip flopped at the last minute . But so much was the hold of the girl over him that he marrried another girl at her bidding .  He did not love this girl at all and quite frankly he needed a break from love affairs and sometime alone . Yet being somehow near this girl who betrayed him was his decision .

3] Ovi :: Her one and only fault was loving a man more than herself , her family , her mother , her self respect , her life ...everything . No guy deserves this much importance but Ovi forgot that and will pay for all her life .

Ovi kept her end of the bargain or deal and insisted that Archana be taken back in the family .

The deal was done by both women but Arjun will punish  Ovi to viewer satisfaction and chase Purvi all his life as she has got badly in his system while he is last on her priority list .

This is how i see it Varsha .

Kool, agree with everything you have written except the part about Ovi loving Arjun above herself. Would be willing to even concede that she might "love" him above all else except herself.  The girl did not give one thought to his misery at the reception, not one, not a glance of sympathy, not an iota of remorse, no toning down of her excitement at having gotten what she has been after.

As I wrote on another thread, "Ovi does not love Arjun, she wants him, she is obsessed with him. Loving would be wanting to see him happy at all costs, much like a parent that would sacrifice all to see his/her child happy. There is no remorse for what she has done, no empathy for his suffering, she is excited and happy she got what she wanted. That is selfish to the core and selfishness is the very antithesis of love."

I looked keenly for some signs to see if I had misjudged Ovi; if she had given Arjun one glance of sympathy, looked a little downcast, I would perhaps have said poor girl, she is crazy about him and now has to pay the price.  Not so after watching that last scene, maybe the CVs will change her character around again.  She was a nice, sweet, insipid girl in Canada, maybe they will transform her back into a loving, remorseful wife who will do everything in her power to win Arjun even offering up her marriage to give him back his own happiness.  Maybe that will be an eye-opener for him that this girl now truly loves him unlike the other one that chose her mother over him and dumped him at the altar and had the steel in her heart to watch him wed another.  That last to me was the unkindest cut of all.

But like you said, the best option for Arjun would have been to disappear from the scene and have left both girls bereft of a toy to barter.  He was an idiot and for that, Shyamala or not, he will get a batting (for Jyothi's sake, a very mild one) from me if I catch him anywhere near.

And you are right, while Ovi is at fault for bringing the deal, Purvi is more at fault for accepting it and Arjun equally so as Purvi for fulfilling it.  In my mind, Ovi is guilty but not as much as the two in the relationship who had so much to lose and lost it anyway by treating marriage and trust as a joke.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for Ovi. She wanted her Ken doll and she got it by crook. She never bothered about Arjun's interest in her in canada, during the engagement fiasco and will not even now. Atleast during the first two phases, despite no signs from him she asssumed that he loves her. But after arjun told her and family clearly that he does NOT love her, she has done this. Not once but several times she has seen the love between them. Still, she purused him in her own crazy way and played the ultimate blackmail game. Yes, arjun and purvi were fools to fall for it, especially Purvi, but she was the ultimate catalyst for shattering their lives. She knew where to strike and when.
Just because she did not start the last step does not in any way exhonerate her and lessen her blame. She will and have to face the consequences now, if life is fair !! But, this is PR, where anything is game !! So, let us see what awaits us ...
