As films continue to get realistic there are some filmmakers who are known to go to great lengths to maintain that authentic touch. And joining that list is director Abhishek Kapoor. When a particular sequence in his film Kai Po Che required him to shoot in a prison, instead of creating sets Abhishek insisted on shooting the scene in a real jail.
Says a source, "Shooting in a real jail meant a lot of paperwork to get the required permissions, but we decided not to compromise on thatand waited for all the permissions to come through andshot the film there. It was a different experience too."
The film starring Sushant Singh Rajput is based on Chetan Bhagat's novelThe 3 Mistakes of My Life and has extensively been shot in Gujarat. Talking about having shot a sequence in a real prison, Manish Hariprasad, Creative Director, Studios, Disney UTV, says, "Kai Po Che is a film about real characters from real India, so we are trying to achieve a certain kind of look. We've shot the entire film on real locations in Gujarat. For the jail sequence also, we managed to get permissions to shoot in a real jail. It was quite an experience toshoot amidst the prisoners. Most of them were pretty excited seeing a film shoot in progress too.
