Rajkumar Hirani's new movie Peekay headlining Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma will be shot partly in Hungary. It would be Hirani's first overseas shoot, at a location not commonly
favored by Bollywood.
A source close to director/
producer tells Mid-Day, "This will be the first time Raju will go out of India to shoot his film. He has
chosen Hungary as the locale will suit his film perfectly." While Hungary is a popular filming locale for Hollywood, Bollywood is yet to capture the
beauty of its landscapes. Filming in the country has other advantages such as low labor cost and tax incentives for foreign filmmakers. The country
offers chameleon-like
architecture which can pass for historical cities such as Paris, London, Rome, Berlin and even
New York City. The first Bolywood film to be
shot in Hungary was Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's Hum
Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). Parts of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Aks (2001) were also
shot in the country.
Shooting for Hirani's film is expected to start at the end of the year.
It was recently reported that Aamir Khan's 17-year-old son,
Junaid, will assist Hirani as his first assistant. Hirani offered him
the job. Junaid is helping Hirani recce the locations for filming.
