I dedicate my story to MANVEER ...
"ABINASHWAR means INDESTRUCTIBLE"
Abinashwar- An Indestructible Love story
The Rajputs of the North West were invincible in ancient days. History witnessed glory of those valorous Rajputs. In war field they were undefeatable. As they considered themselves the Suryavanshi (son of the Sun God), in their proverbs they never see the darkness of defeat in the battlefield.
Our holy scripture says, dead are those who die like a coward. Imperishable are those who fight till their last breath. Soul of a true Gallant is Abinaswar or indestructible like the God Himself.
For ages true gallantry is revered, worshipped and admired by all. Holiest pages of epics and glorious pages of history bear its proof.
But very little is said about love. It was confined to some local songs and poetry, when those men of battle ruled the Rajputana. Love was meant for only Gods and Goddesses. Songs and poetry of love mainly pronounced about our God of love Sri Krishna. Little was talked about the love between a man and a woman, the love which balances the creation of this universe.
But the Holy Scripture says about the saptapadi in marriages. The seven sacred vows of marriage are said to unite a man and a woman in a union of love for seven births. After that their souls are said to be liberated from the boundary of this material universe, they reach the seventh part of the heaven or the highest astral plane and unite with the supreme one.
Seven sages who guides the universe-
There are seven colors to color this world,
Seven which brings the luck-
Seven sacred vows of love.
Out of seven
is made the heaven-
Of two sacred souls
Completes the supreme self
Seven is pure
Seven is whole
It is the indestructible.
[According to the Hindu mythology the seven sages of the Saptarshimandal help the King God of heaven Indra for running his kingdom and the universe.]
The person who gives his life in the battle field is said to reach the heaven, but a lover with pure heart unite with the Abinaswar God Himself.
Ancient India (About a Thousand Year Ago)- The Time of Glorious Rajput Royals
In those days the gallantry of Jaigarh and the wit of their ally Devgarh were known to all. Jaigarh was known for its chivalrous knights and Devgarh for its wise men. The kingdom of Devgarh of Rajputana was the battle strategy maker, none in Rajputana could match their wits and none was there to match the strength of a Jaigarh Knight. Jaigarh and Devgarh were the strongest allies for ages and thus none dared to touch those two kingdoms. It was a custom that a royal of Jaigarh has to be married with a royal of Devgarh. In royals there was no time or place for love. Marrying a noble blood was their duty.
The Maharana Giriraj of Jaigarh left the morning banquet room early with his son and daughter. The king of Vijaynagara from South is coming to pay a special tribute to him, for the bravery of his soldiers, in saving his kingdom from the invader Sher Khan.
The whole Jaigarh is ready to see the King from South and his gift to their beloved Maharana. The Rana is dressed in one of his finest royal clothes, with a turban on his head and Jaigarh's royal creast on it. His subjects cheered, "Long live Maharana!" The maharana beamed at them.
At his right side is standing his heir and hope this kingdom Yuvraaj Udayveer singh. He is a handsome Prince at his mid twenties. There is nobody in the whole Rajputana, who doesn't know stories about this Yuvraaj.
Tigers are heard to be fleeing from him, if he is in hunting and in battlefield he is a true hero. But this valor prince was also known for his kindness to his subjects.
He stepped his feet at the royal porch in his dark blue royal robes, precious gems adorned his muscular chest and his chiseled chin must be any sculptor's dream, The swarna kundal (golden earring) in his ear gleamed in the sunlight. When he came ahead, the whole kingdom uttered in joy, "Long live Yuvraaj ". As the Yuvraaj smiled his lotus like eyes gleamed, he lifted his right hand to the crowed, and the sun tika on his forehead glowed in the morning sun, as if the Sun God Himself wanting to say, "You are my true son."
At the left side of the Maharana is his beloved daughter, princess Unnati, wearing a beautiful white dress and a graceful smile on her face, "Long live Princess" the subjects applauded.
And then the long awaited king Srinivasan of Vijaynagara arrived. When he came down from his royal chariot the Maharana along with the prince and the princess descended from the porch and went to welcome him. The subjects of Jaigarh bowed to both the kings. The king of Vijaynagara beamed and then he bowed to the Maharana, "O great Suryavanshi, respected Maharana of Jaigarh, I do not know how to thank you and you gallant soldiers." The Maharana smiled and the king continued, "You saved my kingdom, my honor and as the king of Vijaynagara I offer you a small gift."
A chariot with eight horses has appeared. From the look of the tired horses and the horsemen's faces it was understood that the thing is heavy. When everyone's eyes fell on it, they saw the present is veiled with satin cloth and it is almost 5 feet tall.
The King of Vijaynagara bowed again, "Dear Maharana, I present you this for your newly made temple at the centre of the city. It is a sacred Vigraha (idol) from my Kingdom and made by my finest sculptor. And as your well wisher I request you worship it with proper respect. None will dare to touch your kingdom ever!"
The Maharana smiled in appreciation and said, "I am honored my beloved king."
A Week later
Jaigarh is again decorated like a newlywed bride, as it is the sacred day of the newest temple inauguration. The day of unveiling the sacred idol from the King of Vijaynagara. The yuvraaj of Devgarh prince Narayan Singh and his sister princess Nayanika has arrived at the ceremony.
"My beloved friend you have leaned." Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh chuckled hugged his best friend Yuvraaj Narayan Singh.
"All blame goes to you my friend" The Yuvraaj of Devgarh chukled, but prince Udayveer frowned. Narayan Singh smiled again and said, "My dear sister thinks about you all the day and doesn't take my proper care." Hearing her brother's comment the princess of Devgarh went red inside her yellow dress, and uttered slowly, "Dada!".
Princess Nayanika is betrothed to Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh from her very childhood and is very much taken with him. But the Yuvraaj of Jaigarh looked troubled at his bosom friend's comment and did not even look at his betrothed for a single second. Though the prince hid his emotion tactfully but this didn't get unnoticed by his closest friend. He looked at him for an answer and the prince changed the subject; "Dear Narayan, Unnati has prepared your favorite sweet; I sense you will regain your perfect shape within few days" he beamed. Though hearing his fianc's name he smiled, but the yuvraaj of Devgarh was still not convinced. Prince Udayveer understood this; to control the specific situation he looked at princess Nayanika and said, "And stop blaming my betrothed Yuvraaj!" Though he did not pronounced her name for a single time the princess blushed thinking he said something connected to her. But the prince left at the very next second. He could not falsify himself anymore.
The rajpurohit unveiled the vigraha (idol). All bowed to the sacred idol of Ardhanarishvara. The maharana thanked king Srinivasan again, who is standing right beside him.
The vigraha (idol) of Ardhanarishvara is the image of half God Shiva and half His consort Goddess Parvati. All bowed the idol in reverence.
The rajpurohit started the holy chanting in his deep voice-
Ambhodhara shymala kunthalayai,
Thathithprabha thamra jatadharaya
Namo Shivayai cha Namo Shivaya...
[Her hair is dark like water bearing clouds and His jata raised and radiant with golden hue, like ripe mango fruit, She is the superior of all and He is the Lord of everything, creating a wonderful form of divinity. So bow to Lord Shiva chanting his name].
It was first such image in the Rajputana. Being the men of battle the Rajputs used to worship the lord of destruction Shiva and the Goddess of power Parvati, but separately, for the lust of power, for the desire of destruction. But none imagined them together. Together God Shiva and Goddess Parvati are the life creators of this universe.
All closed their eyes in reverence, but the Yuvraaj of Jaigarh looked at the image in awe. He could not close his eyes in front of the beautiful form of God, where He is in the complete form of love.
Prince Udayveer merged into a deep thought. God Shiva and Goddess Parvati, mother and father of the creation completes each other in the form of Ardhanarisvara. If not together the creation is incomplete and the great parents of the universe are incomplete without love. The God of destruction smeared in ash, holding a trisula (trident) and a rosary in His upper and lower right arm, a furious snake is adorning His chest, His hair unkempt; the divine limb is in the form of Tandava to destroy this material world, but devi Parvati holds Him back, Looking at Her beautiful sandal skin, cloud like hair, attractive feet, which is kissed with beautiful nupura (anklets), He cannot hold Himself anymore. As He goes near Her, She caresses Him with Her Handsome hand holding a lotus. By the calming smell of Her skin the God loses His heart and submits it to Her completely. He takes all of Her worries in His Jata. Holding His heart the Goddess dances the lasya in pure joy of love and the God unites with Her completely, to become one body, one mind, one soul, one heart.
The yuvraaj recognized the power of Shakti Goddess Parvati is the power of pure love.
The Rajpurohit is continuing the sacred chanting and prince Udayveer closed his eyes in complete respect and admiration.
Prapancha srustyunmukha lasyakai
Samastha samharaka thandavaya
Namo Shivayai cha namo Shivaya
[He dances the dance of destruction in fury and the cosmos subsides back in Him. She dances in delight with captivating beauty at the face of creation with springs forth from them. Now She is the mother of this universe and He is the father. With their creation they are complete. So bow to Lord Shiva chanting His name].
The blazing afternoon sun is burning in the sky, but that could not lessen the spirit of Jaigarh. All citizens are going to the newest temple for a sacred darshan of the Ardhanarishvara and thus get the holy prasadam from the royal priests.
The Maharana is in a buoyant mood. He is standing at his palace terrace uphill, from where the whole city can get a view of him, he is smiling at his subjects jovially whenever they are uttering, "Maharana ki jai ho!"
The smile in his face widened when he sees his future son and daughter-in-law. The Yuvraaj of Jaigarh greeted them again with a charming smile, beside him standing his beloved sister Unnati.
Maharana hugged Yuvraaj Narayan Singh, "How are you son?"
"Fine! with your blessings Maharana!" He smiled and touched his feet. The Maharana blessed him.
"What about the Maharana and Maharani of Devgarh? Why did not they arrive to the puja?"
The yuvraaj's face looked sorry, "Mother has gotten fever and father went to South, for some royal duties'.."
"Maharani has fever! In the absence of maharana! Why did not you tell me earlier son? I must pay a visit; I will take my rajvaidya (royal doctor) with me."
"Maharana you must not worry about her. Our rajvaidya is treating her well, she will be fine within a day or two, and she said she will definitely pay a visit to your temple after that." The prince chuckled. The Maharana joined him.
Princess Nayanika came forward and touched maharana's feet, "Pranam maharana."
"Long live princess." The maharana blessed his would be daughter in law.
The king of Vijaynagara looked at princess Nayanika, "Princess of Devgarh! I have heard stories about you! The one and only Chaturvedi (learner of the four Vedas) Princess of whole Rajputana!"
Nayanika lowered her eyes, "It is all for my guru's blessings."
The king beamed at the humble princess, then looked at Maharana, "Your son is the luckiest one."
The Maharana looked proud and prince Udayveer wore a fake smile.
"Then I must not conceal the finest news from you my noble king." The Maharana paused for a second or two, all the royals who were present there looked at him questioningly.
He gave a wide smile looking at their faces, "My Rajpurohit (royal priest) said there is a holy day just after a month from now, and I have planned another auspicious ceremony on that very day." He again stopped for few moments as a joyful emotion flickered in his eyes.
"I think it's the perfect day for Udayveer and Nayanika's marriage." The Princess of Devgarh blused like anything, but the Yuvraaj of Jaigarh just gave a frugal smile. His dear sister Unnati hugged him, and then only his smile broadened.
King Srinivasan hugged the Maharana and greeted him. There are tears of happiness in Yuvraaj Narayan Singh's eyes.
Few Days Later
Night air ruffled his hair, and the satin bed sheets embraced his bare body, his cushioned bed is ready to take all of his pains but the yuvraaj of Jaigarh felt as if thrones are piercing every part of his body and mind. He could not close his eyes for days. The royals of Devgarh returned to their palace with sheer joy, hearing the news of mighty yuvraaj Udayveer Singh and their beloved princess Nayanika's upcoming wedding ceremony. But the very same news troubled yuvraaj the most.
"How can I marry someone else when I have already given my heart to her!" The yuvraaj uttered in his mind. But again he thought, he is betrothed to the princess, if he breaks that vow, it'll break his Rajdharma (duty of a royal).
"But I promised her too, I promised to love her, care for her, how can I break that vow!"
"Doesn't my dharma say to protect every vow I take!"
Thinking of his beloved's face the prince became impatient.
Leaving his bed he went to the terrace attached to his bedroom. Cold desert air pierced his body, but he did not give any damn to it as completely lost in a deep thought.
Few days after the arrival of king Srinivasan from Vijaynagara
The Prince of Jaigarh rode to a downhill village with his horse. He looked very happy.
He stopped in front of a garden; he knows she will be here. But his eyes still are impatient; as he could not bear a single second without her.
And then her fragile voice reached his ear, "Veer Singh is that you?" a village girl of nineteen with an innocent pale face appeared in a yellow ghagra and red choli. A tikli is adorning her forehead, and a waistband balancing her long dupatta, covering her bosom. His smile broadened seeing her face, immediately he took her into his arms and kissed at her forehead, "Moniya! How are you?" she pushed him back in protest, "So finally you remembered that there exist a girl called Moniya!"
The prince tried to explain but could not, because she didn't know that he is the prince of this kingdom! So he stayed where he is and she started blaming him endlessly, "Tell me properly where you were in these days? Is there any other woman?" the prince wanted to say something in his defense but she didn't let him do it, "See, if you let your eyes on any other woman except me, I will reap your eyes, and you know that I can do it. Because Veer Singh, you are only mine!" Now the prince grinned and drew her closer, "Say it again?"
"What? I can reap your eyes!"
"Umm hmm, you don't have to do that, because I cannot let my eyes upon any other woman except you Moniya!" When he pronounced her name in his deep voice all of her anger melted within a second. She came closer and ran her hand in his hair and cheek, "are you alright Veer Singh? Has the maharana and the prince put a huge work pressure on you?" he nodded his head in positive. She looked worried, "come with me I have made kshira for you." The prince nodded negatively and drew her closer, "My kshira is already in my arms"
She went red and he erased all the distance between them. Now he can feel the rhythm of her heartbeat; he cupped her face and touched her bud like lips with his warm lips. Then slowly, tenderly and at last with pure desire he extracted all the sweetness from it. Her lower lip went red with his love and she did not care it for a single moment.Lost herself completely in it. When they broke, she saw in his eyes that he wants her even more. She felt shy but at the same time felt the tremendous urge to get nearer to him, gazing at her, he understood it. He ran his hand in her hair and said, "Trust me Moniya!" She looked at him, and he recognized no one in this world could trust him that much. That look on her face burned his heart, because he had lied to her. He lied to the woman he loves the most in this world.
He turned his back but she stopped him and took his hand on her cheek and uttered, "Veer Singh, I am yours forever, do anything you want but promise me you will never turn your back upon me." He felt even sorrier looking at her innocent eyes, which has complete faith on him.
"Moniya!" his voice became heavy, "I lied to you." She looked at him in disbelief, as if her Veer Singh can never lie to her. Holding his hand, she said, "It is not the proper time for jokes Veer Singh."
He looked at her in awe, and the more he looked the more he felt the thrones of guilt inside him, "Moniya, my name is not Veer Singh and I am not a common soldier of palace." She threw his hand in demand of an answer and he could not look in those eyes, so the Suryavansi prince lowered his head for the first time in his life, "I am yuvraaj Udayveer Singh, prince of this state!" He looked at her face in hope may be she will be happy knowing that her prince of dream is a real prince!
And she looked at him thinking her Veer Singh is cracking another joke. But when she noticed his guilty face and cloudy eyes she could not hold herself anymore.
She fell on the ground, her dupatta left her head, the tikli on her forehead went astray and tears flickered from her eyes.
The prince kneeled and held her shoulder, "Moniya, I have never lied about our love." She looked at him but her face left all emotions, slowly and carefully she dropped his hands from her shoulders, and then said, "I beg your pardon, your highness."
"Moniya!" he uttered in a hurt voice but she left the ground without saying a single word and folding her palms she bowed to him, "Forgive me, your highness for the trouble I have caused you."
"Moniya, please don't do this to me, it is I who beg your forgiveness."
"I am not eligible for that, I am a peasant of your village yuvraaj."
"Moniya!" He came closer and cupped her face, she removed his hand but deliberately, "Yuvraaj you return to your palace and let me go back to my hut." Slowly she increased their distances and then ran, he understood she is crying, he could see her dupatta loosened from her long ghagra (skirt).
It was the first time the prince felt he cannot win everything.
His impatience increased, remembering the incident again. He returned to his chamber, opened the fine curved drawer and took out the beautiful red bridal dress and some precious ornaments. He made it only for her, thinking one day he will tell her to become his forever. But the valiant prince did not understand how he will get her back again.
"I broke her heart!" he thought and whenever he was closing his eyes for getting some peace he saw only her face. Her happy face, innocent face, angry face, blushing face and at last her miserable face.
"No!" he screamed and started breathing heavily.
"I cannot live without Moniya, not for a single second!" He uttered. And then he took the dress and ornaments, with his horse he reached the ardhanarisvara temple. After few moments of prayer he came out but there was no peace in his mind. Without thinking he rode to the downhill village and stopped before her hut.
He did it several times earlier. Every time he used to awake his sleeping beauty with his wet kisses and warm touch. He loved to see how her pale face is turning red and redder gradually. But now nothing is left with him. He sighed from outside and peeped in her hut just to see her face for once.
The calming moonlight made her look like a divine creature. But his sleeping beauty is not sleeping at all. Her face is full of tears; she has leaned and looked weak. He blamed himself again and a drop of tear fell from the Sun God's son's eyes.
Some precious moments-
of this material earth
holds deep purity-
Then angels of the heaven also-
sing love's beauty!
Earth stood still,
by the serenity of his eyes-
brutal desert air also cannot deny-
What she feels inside!
his tender eyes when touches
Ether feels a new heaven
Seeing its beauty.
He entered her hut like storm and held her in his arms, "I know you still love me, please Moniya don't do this !" She cried even more and tried to break his embrace.
"Moniya!" the prince put her hands on his chest, which is half covered by a thin satin shawl.
She shivered at the touch of his bare skin; she shivered even more feeling his heartbeat at her palm but did not say a single word! And the prince said in a hurt voice, "Just tell me for once that you don't love me and you will never see my face again."
"I have no right on you Yuvraaj!" She answered in a fragile voice, "It is always the princess of Devgarh's right."
"Moniya!" one more time he uttered her name in a hurt voice.
She removed her hands from his chest, "I beg your pardon Yuvraaj but you must not dishonor your Rajdharma! You cannot break your vow to marry the princess. "
He lost his temper, holding her shoulders tightly he pinned her against the wall, "Who are you to teach me my Rajdharma!" And then he tied her with his satin shawl without waiting for an answer, he dragged her to his horse. She protested but failed to his strength. Along with her, he rode to uphill and stopped in front of the temple. Untying her, he took her inside. The sacred diyas of the Ardhanarishvara temple is shining radiantly.
"Tell me Moniya, tell me in front of God, do you love me or not!" He demanded.
She covered her face with her hands and started sobbing, "I said to you that I am yours forever!"
He dragged her in his arms, "Then why? Why do you want to separate me from you?"
"Because, I can never bear if people disgrace you for me! I will better live alone for my whole life, with your love in my heart."
He became speechless! Then realized, he cannot take a single breath without her. His serene eyes when fell on her nave face he uttered, "Be my ardhangini Moniya! Take those seven sacred vows with me now!"
She lost all her power to deny him now and his dark eyes realized it. Slowly he went to the vigraha and took out the red bridal dress from God's feet and handed it to her.
"I made it for you, when realized that only you can complete me. But it is not only a dress Moniya, it is my love for you!" He came closer and said in a deep voice, "And I devoted my love to the God. So that my body if decays in a battlefield, my love remains Abinashwar."
She covered his lips with her palms, "Death will touch me before you!"
The sacred Diya of the temple glowed with a pure glaze and it shone the face of God, where He is standing in His most sacred form of love.
Hearing this again a tear fell from the prince's eye and he gave her his love, "Wear it for me Moniya!"
She took it in her hand then hugged it closing her eyes and tears fell from her eyes too. Then she nodded her head in acceptance and went to a corner.
By the sound of her nupura (anklet) he understood that she is ready. A smile crept on his face.
When she came forward her breath stopped. He has never appeared in front of her in such attire.
Seeing him in his golden sherwani, red scarf, red turban with a Jaigarh's royal crest and a royal sword in his waist she realized she is going to marry the prince indeed. The yuvraaj of Jaigarh!
"You look exactly like my yuvraani!" her chain of thought broke hearing his voice.
Smiling with a blush she asked pointing to his robes, "How did you manage this?"
"My royal palace is just a stone throw distance from here, plus I cannot wear sleeping robes in my first marriage!" he grinned mischievously.
"Acha! How many times you wish to marry yuvraaj? Remember that eye reaping option still exists."
He grinned seeing his old Moniya back again, "One Moniya is enough for my entire life, I don't have the nerve to handle another."
"And there can't be two Moniyas on a single earth." She giggled. He smiled back.
Then holding each other's hand they bowed to the God. While she prayed with utter intensity he looked at her face. The more he drank her innocence the more his thirst increased. Then slowly he closed his eyes in front of her, but she could not see it being so busy with her God.
The night air slept in peace
Then awaken by the
True wish of love
It sucked the beauty
Of the serene moment
When the earth turned itself
Into the heaven
Holy fire in the yagnapatra glowed. He tied the knot with her beautiful dupatta and held her hand. Then took the lead to take those sacred vows:-
In his deep voice he uttered-
You will offer me food and be helpful in every way. I will cherish you and provide welfare and happiness for you and our children.
And she uttered in her fragile voice:
I am responsible for the home and all household
Together we will protect our house and children.
I will be by your side as your courage and strength. I will rejoice in your happiness. In return, you will love me solely.
May we grow wealthy and prosperous and strive for
the education of our children. May our children live long.
I will love you solely for the rest of my life, as you are my husband. Every other man in my life will be secondary. I vow to remain chaste.
You have brought sacredness into my life, and have
completed me. May we be blessed with noble and obedient children.
I will shower you with joy, from head to toe. I will strive to please you in every way I can.
Now it's her turn to lead the sacred union. She uttered in a content voice:
I promise to love and cherish you for as long as I
live. Your happiness is my happiness, and your sorrow is my sorrow. I will
trust and honor you, and will strive to fulfill all your wishes.
Holding her hand he pronounced after her:
You are my best friend, and staunchest well-wisher.
You have come into my life, enriching it. God bless you.
I will always be by your side.
May you be filled with joy and peace.
As God is witness, I am now your wife. We will love, honor and cherish each other forever.
We are now husband and wife, and are one. You are mine and I am yours for eternity.
He finished in a same deep voice. After that took out a dagger and scratched his right thumb, then her maang went red with it. She closed her eyes and he drew her closer, and put a soft kiss on her forehead. Welcome to your new life yuvraani of Jaygarh. She could not open her eyes, thinking it is a dream. But his tender voice broke her thought, "Moniya once I have promised you that I will love you in every condition and that become my dharma. Now that I have pronounced the sacred vows with you, you become my karma too."
She looked at him in awe, she didn't know what she will say after that, only a drop of tear came out from her eye, but he stopped her pearl tear with his forefinger, "From now onwards there will be no more sorrows in your life."
She rested her head on his heart and her endless tears made her cheeks wet, "These are the tears of joy." He rested his right palm on her head.
Just then the eastern sky became scarlet, making the new bride's maag redder.
To be continued...
