Geet bete what are you doing here at this hour. Dadimaa asked climbing down the stairs.
It was 12, Jiya was sleeping in her room... n Maan's room? Was it even an option? I was just sitting.
It's time to sleep. Dadimaa said. Let me take you to your room. Knowing well that Maan must have said something that made her sit here at this time, Dadimaa decided to take Geet to the room herself. They needed to sort things out n for that they had to be together n to render the purpose she was even ready to use force if required.
Despite Geet's protest she escorted her to the room. The door opened after Dadimaa knocked n revealed Maan's grim face.
Just came to wish good night. Dadimaa said with a beam, as if they were picture perfect. As soon as she left, Maan pulled Geet inside clutching her small wrist in his strapping grip. He slammed her against the wall n she winched with the contact.
Your tricks may work on other but I am immune to them. Maan cleared looking into her hazel orbs that were staring back at him stunned. You think by bringing Dadimaa here I will keep you in this room.
The little light from the lamp didn't do much to make things any better. Maan felt something tainting his anger. Those pink lips seemed to tug at his eyes daring him to look away. Strangely he was noticing her now. The skin was pale, darkened circles under the eyes n the eyes which once used to dance n shimmer with life looked dead now. Pretension was possible but all this?? Was this also fake? May be she was in bad condition, in some problem, that's why she agreed to marry him. Then her father was rich so there was no chance of financial strain.
If Maan was getting distracted by the proximity Geet was not far behind. They were shunning each other till now, calculatingly hiking the path of ignorance but eventually everything has a limit.
His perfect lips were intoxicating. For a moment, even when in his painful grip, those lips took her into the past. She remembered how they moved so softly against hers; making her moan in ecstasy. It was not the kisses she craved so much for, it was the love they whispered of into her mouth. Her eyes again met his n she was dumbfounded by her own self. What was wrong with her? Fear washed over her features n eyes flew wide. She pushed away from him slipping out of his grip, fighting the impulse to run from there.
Her behaviour surprised him but he knew better than to mull over her actions. Where do you think you are going? He again held her by elbow, when saw her leaving. She jerked herself away like his hand was contaminated. He pulled her back with double intensity. If she would deny something he would do it for sure.
You are going to stay in study. He brought her closer n Geet held her breath not fancying his scent, it would make her weak n she was already the weakest. I don't want Dadimaa making my life hell.
She nodded her head meekly n he left her getting her consent. She felt so fragile that for a moment, just a moment, he in his subconscious thought that he might hurt her with his iron grip. I had asked Nakul to put your bags in there.
Ji... She whispered with tears in her eyes n left the room hurriedly. Maan was again left wondering about her strange behaviour but he ignored again like he ignored his own thoughts.
She got into the study n immediately closed the door. Alone, she felt good. Resting her back against the door she took in the much needed oxygen, this concrete wall between them was better than that thick wall of dark emotions. Her hand found the switch, she pushed it on n the bulb burnt to life. There was a single bed in a corner n a table n chair in other. The cupboard was empty while her bag was lying on the floor. This was her room, it was not grand but for her the best because she had the privilege to be by herself.
Deep inside the bag she found her sleeping pills; she threw two in her mouth shoving it down her throat without water. Soon the impending sleep made her eyes droopy n she was in dire need of it. While awake she saw him everywhere but in sleep he was not there because she no more had dreams.
The night ended n the sun found its way out. Geet woke up at 5, there was no bathroom attached to her room n Maan's bathroom was obviously not available. Taking her cloths she entered into Jia's room, she was sleeping so Geet as quietly as possible used the bathroom there n took bath. When she stepped out of the bathroom, Jia's pink quilt was thrown aside n she was shivering. Geet sat on the bed n covered her tiny body with the sheet, Jia showed her approval by clutching the quilt tight to herself.
Remembering that breakfast has to be made, she decided to leave but then like lightening a thing struck her vision. She picked up the frame; the woman in the snap was dressed in pink saree. She looked happy, content n same as before. She felt sorry that the woman was no more there with her family but still she couldn't stop wondering what was there in her that she lacked. Was it the face? Or was it the inner personality? A helpless tear slid down her cheek n dropped on the cheek of the woman in the photograph.
A soft hand touched her cheek. Daddy says good girls don't cry. Jia said wiping the damp trail off.
Sorry I disturbed your sleep. Geet said placing the frame back on the side table.
No problem. Jia waved her hand in front of Geet's face. Daddy also says that good girls wake up early but I never. She stuck her tongue out cutely. He still lub me.
W-who is she? Geet knew the answer then also asked the obvious.
My mommy, Daddy says she is with god. Angels lives there na. It was then that Geet understood where the difference lied, it was luck. She was there but it was all not meant for her where as Shreya had it all but unfortunately she was no more there to reap what luck provided. Geet again glanced at the frame; Shreya was perfect as a person n for Maan as well. But Luck, in spite of everything had today brought her here, where she was the odd piece out, where she didn't fitted at all.
I know friends that you all are getting impatient n my late updates are not helping either but believe their is more to the story n a valid explanation for everything that's happening. Don't judge Maan or Geet as of now coz they had there share of bad past n thats what made them what they are currently. Just keep faith in me n the story, you already know good times are on their way.
