He heard his parents bicker for a bit, then quiet down. His not-so expensive watch read 8:30pm. He quietly slipped out of bed and tip-toed over to his closet. "Veer?" he froze. "Ji Papa?" he turned around and forced a smile. "Why haven't you slept yet?" his dad asked. "Uh...I can't sleep" Veer made an excuse. "Oh, I see! Well, goodnight! Hope the sandman visits you soon" his dad chuckled. Veer laughed nervously, "Goodnight Papa". Veer watched his dad leave and turned back to the closet, he opened it and making sure no one else was watching he pushed back all his normal clothes. Revealing hot, hip and cool modern clothes. Not your average kurta and jeans. he put on the Ed-hardy t-shirt, ripped jeans, and a sleeveless hooded vest jacket, and slipped on a pair of fancy black shoes. He ran to his bed and picked up the mattress. Underneath it was his shoebox full of money and one of his prized possessions, the headphones. He put them on his ears and let them slide down until they rested around his neck, Veer was ready to go clubbing. Veer made his way to the window and pushed it open, he was halfway out when he remembered his hat. Veer quickly scrambled back inside, he went back to his closet and reached to the top, on the top of the closet was his hat, a perfect DJ hat. He jammed it over his head and practically leapt out the window. Veer strolled down the alley towards the local garage. "OYE! Veeray!" Veer turned around. He grinned, "Jusmeet!". His best friend, he had recently moved to Mumbai from Punjab a few months ago, and immediately he and Veer had become good friends. Jusmeet had recently been made the manager of the local garage. "Where ya goin?" Jusmeet asked. Veer laughed, "You know exactly where I'm going!". Jusmeet nodded, "I know yaar! Here's the keys to the bullet" he handed him a pair of keys. They shared a man hug, "See you in the morning" Veer waved as he walked away. "Not if I see you first!" Jusmeet shouted back. They both laughed and walked their separate ways. Veer arrived at the garage a few minutes later. Instead of going inside Veer ventured around back, where he kept his prized Motorcycle, The Bullet. He reached down and ran his hand along the patented Leather seats, Veers soul resided in this motorcycle. It had taken him a years worth of pay to get it. He sighed, "Too bad I can't ride you around all day". Veer sat down,started the ignition and set off for his club.
"Oh PUH-LEEZ M baby you can not go in traditional Indian attire to a club" Jai rolled her eyes. Manyatha strained a smile, "Well, I'm not going to go in skimpy western attire either". Jai glared at her, "Your calling my dress skimpy?". Manyatha nodded, "Why yes I am! It barely covers your thighs!". Jai looked hurt, "I thought you were my friend!". Manyatha giggled, "I am Jai, but I was just telling the truth". Jai groaned, "Fine I'll go change". Manyatha shook her head, "No
It's fine, anyways I just got an idea what to wear!" Manyatha grinned. Jai crossed her arms over her chest, "Do tell". "Raj!" she called for her worker. "Yes Ma'am?" he asked. "Get me a first class black salwar and fast!" she snapped her fingers. Raj bowed and left. Jai raised her eyebrows, "What are you up to M Baby?" she asked. Manyatha winked, "You'll see".
A short boring chapter...I know. But I promis the next on will be better!
