"Adventure seeker, on an empty street..just an alley creeper, light on his feet"
People cast funny looks at the young woman who was weaving impatiently through the early morning Chandini Chowk crowd. A bright jhola was slung across her short kurti fitted torso and a Patiala covered her graceful legs.
"A young fighter screaming, with no time for doubt..with the pain and anger, cant see a way out"
Her milky arms moved in tandem to the beat only she could hear, animated eyes taking in with mirth the reactions of the people around her. They continued to stare as she mouthed the lyrics, making her way to the Metro station of the crowded capital.
"It ain't much I'm asking, I heard him say...gotta find me a future, move out of my way"
Her wavy hair fell to her hip, bouncing joyously as she moved her head to Freddie Mercury's godlike voice. She continued to attract the attention of many; some understood, some unwanted.
"I want it all...I want it all, I want it all and I want it now!"
Khushi made her way out of the Central Secretariat platform in a hurry; her bespectacled hazel eyes looking for an auto. She spotted one at a close distance and made a mad dash for the yellow and green vehicle.
"Listen all you people, come gather around...I gotta get me a game plan, gotta shake you to the ground"
She hurried forward and collided headlong with solid rock, her breath leaving her in a rush. There was something wierd about the rock though; it was straightening her!
"But just give me huh, what is mine...people do you hear me? Just give me a sign"
Khushi pushed herself away from the rock in question and righted herself. She brushed imaginary lint off her crimson kurti and raised her head to give the person a verbal beating.
"It ain't much Im asking, if you want the truth...here's to the future, to the dreams of youth"
Everything stopped as she gazed into those warm eyes and at the face of the most handsome man she had ever seen. Flecks of coal shined in his irises, expressing some unknown emotion. There was a small scar above his left eyebrow, accentuating the expanse of his forehead.
That arrogant nose was turned up oh-so-slightly as he glared at her, the chin; adorned with a slight stubble jutting out an unforgiving angle.
A silent moment passed between the two, nothing said, nothing done. They continued to stare each other until he chose to broke the serene quiet.
"Look where you're going"
With that cut-glass voice coming from those warm lips, Khushi snapped back into the present. She yanked one earphone out and fumed. The nerve of this man! If he hadn't been so absorbed in his phone, he could have seen where he was going. Queen blared in her left ear, shaking the drum and beating its tune.
"I want it all, I want it all"
"Excuse me? Khud dekh ke chalo!" Khushi blasted at him, her eyes flashing with aggressiveness.
"Excuse me? Khud dekh ke chalo!"
The stranger's voice broke Arnav from his salivating reverie. Her hazel eyes had narrowed behind the plastic lenses, the kohl outlining them pronouncing the fire simmering in those lenses.
He didn't bother to reply-for the moment. He merely slid his gaze-inconspicously to her heaving chest. Red eh?
His favorite. The color of passion. The color of seduction. The color of anger.
Fists clenching automatically by his side, Arnav stared into the woman's amazing eyes. "I dont think so. You should have seen where you were going" he gritted out, his knuckles white against his bronze skin.
A part of him was confused at his vehement response. Why was he reacting to a stranger like this?
"Oh but I dont agree. If you would have been focusing in front and not on your phone-you would have not collided with me" the stranger replied with another flash of her eyes.
Arnav let his gaze linger on her face before he decided to respond.
Her ebony hair was parted to the side, falling in little wisps across her rose stained cheeks. Those eyes continued to glare mutinously at him, the glasses amplyfying the effect. His eyes rested on the upturned nose and he narrowed in on the gold nosering. It caught the light subtly, shining in a muted fashion.
And those lips.
Those plump pink lips that were pursed in what he presumed-correctly was anger, were drawing him in. He continued to stare for what seemed like an eternity-but his spell was broken by the owner of those sweet lips herself.
"Oh hello! Im waiting for my apology!"
"Then keep waiting forever. I wont apologize. Do you even know who I am?" Arnav enquired in a growl, his keen eyes taking in the hesitancy in her lenses upon his gruff tone.
But the woman bounced back with grace and ease. "Whoever you might be, Im Khushi Kumari Gupta and I demand an apology" she retorted, wagging a pale finger near his face.
The errant digit did it. Arnav's bolted anger rushed out in one go as he caught hold of the offensive finger and pulled the stranger flush against himslef.
He saw those eyes widen with disbelief and fear, but they were tinged with something she could not hide.
"Well Khushi Kumari Gupta, Im surprised you dont know who I am" Arnav answered back silkily, watching those lenses widen once again. Her lush breasts were pushing against his front, and he pulled back slightly, wanting to relieve himself of the torturous feel of her body.
"Apologize, or I will make you" the stranger tossed at him, flipping her glossy head to the side.
Arnav couldn't help it. He laughed loudly and stared at the woman in his arms. This chit was so strange! The hazel lenses flashed again at his action, a subtle prelude to what was going to hit him next.
Khushi stared at the man in front of her with a mixture of defiance and disgust. The last 2 minutes of Queen's song was still resounding in her ears, giving her heady rush of arrogance.
A plan clicked in her mind and she smirked.
"Let go of me! Let go of me! Take your hands off me!" she beat her fists against his chest and wailed at the top of her voice, making the stranger stumble.
He looked shocked. But still Khushi didn't stop.
In a matter of few seconds, the redhi-waale bhaiyya who'd known her since she was ten came rushing to her and pushed the man off her.
"Kamine! Hamari bitiya ko aise chedta hai! Chodunga nahi!"
Khushi smirked once again as she looked at the handsome stranger stumble once more. Murder glinted in his eyes.
Composing her face into a sad mask, she held Rattan bhaiyya's hand. "Let it be. Forget it. I just want him to apolo-"
But the older man didn't let her complete her sentence. He faced the stranger and screeched. "Maafi maang aur jaa. Agar tujhe apni jaan pyaari hai"
Arnav stared at the duo in front of him with the intent of murder clear in his eyes. He looked to the woman and boiled further as he caught her sneering. What the f**k was she?
"Maafi maang aur jaa. Agar tujhe apni jaan pyaari hai"
He could very well have punched the man right then and there. Could have taken him and wiped that smirk of the woman's face. But he didn't.
He merely straightened himslef and looked straight into the stranger's eyes. "Im sorry"
"See, its not important to know a persons name to apologize. I hope you understand?" her snarky comment jabbed straight at him upon hearing the apology. She looked at him and took a step back at the fury apparent in those brown lenses. Those molten eyes that were now tinged with a murderous black.
Arnav maintained eye contact with the woman till he backed away, making sure that she knew hell was coming for her.
Khushi Kumari Gupta. They would meet again.
She watched him walk away from her in an arrogant stride, those long legs distancing him from her with graceful ease.
A bereft, yet fearful feeling encompassed her entire being. She raised a hand to her thumping heart and released a shaky sigh.
Why was it beating so fast?
Queen's solo blasted in her ear and resounded all around her body. The bass and lead guitars combined with the drums wove a classic melody that sang through her veins.
"I want it all, I want it all..oh oh oh..I want it now!"
Oh she did want it all, but was it from the stranger?
Khushi turned around and strode determinedly to the auto. She gave the driver instructions and prepared to sit on the battered cushion. But for a moment she stopped.
She glanced at the place where she'd banged into him, and unknowingly, she smiled. The smile still in place, she sat into the vehicle and closed her eyes.
Whoever he was. They would meet again.
Song Credits: Queen: I want it all.
