This post is based on the character sketch of Garima and Shashi on the SP website.
According to the character sketches:
1. Garima went through horrible experiences when she was young
2. Payal is not Garima's daughter but Shashi's from his first marriage.
3. Garima brought Khushi as an orphan when she was married to Shashi
After reading the character sketches I think the past could've been like this:
1. Garima was abused by Arnav's uncle
2. When Khushi's real mom (Garima's sister) came to know about it she went to Sheesh Mahal to expose him on the day of Anjali's marriage and thus she became the "Woh Aurat"
3. Arnav's uncle manipulated the facts and put the blame on Arnav's dad
4. Hearing all these Anjali's marriage was called off
5. Unable to bear the insults and accusations Arnav's mom and then his dad committed suicide
6. After their death Arnav's uncle threw Arnav & Anjali out of Sheesh Mahal
7. Later on when Khushi's mom dad came to know about the "true facts" about Arnav's uncle they wanted to expose him. So Arnav's uncle killed both of them and made it look like an accident
8. Garima married Shashi and brought Khushi with her as Khushi's parents were dead
That's just my wild guess. Please don't bash me. Do tell me what do u think
