Well, as I said it is hard to truly identify a mentally instable person. In India, all of them fall under the category of 'pagal'. Do thik the Cvs really researched insanity and the truth is for a layman the research isn't that easy. And really why will the Cvs care to research, I don't think the audience in Indian go into the nitty gritty of it…
Bipolars do have extremes in characters, such a excessive and exaggerated speeches, or extremely enjoying the center of attention – love for being the 'jaan' of the party and doing whatever for it, jumping up and down, dancing crazy, working/serving in the party (but these can often be taken as a extremely extrovert nature, including extreme friendliness or hating someone without much reason) or excessive depression…the spikes in a women generally happens during hormonal changes, first sign of mental insanity being during teenage years…
Well, I am writing all these just to say, insane people might just be 'normal' being an extreme extrovert…to some extent Reva did show some of these characteristics..
People can 'lead' a 'healthy' life with bipolar, but do ask a spouse how they manage to stay 'sane' with them…because all these characters are always displayed towards them too…often showing extreme love or hate…calling 911 at the smallest of event….it is just hard to stay 'sane' with them…
Pharma companies are trying to capture this lucrative market but billion dollar drug/molecule are failing as efficacy is hard to prove…
