Kareena's 'Heroine' Stands Tall, Others Set For Deadly Clash

By MovieTalkies.com, 09 August 2012

Just when it had started seeming that Bollywood had learnt its ways and spacing out films better, there is an explosion all set to happen. Come 5th October and as many as five films would release on the same day. This also means that Kareena Kapoor would now have a clean arrival on 21st September.

Confirms a trade source, "Yes, Sridevi's English Vinglish and Preity Zinta's Ishkq In Paris, both of which were supposed to clash with Heroine have been moved ahead. Now Aftab Shivdasani's1920 - Evil Returns is all set to release on 5th October. These films are in addition to two Vivek Oberoi starrers Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story and Kismet Love Paisa Dilli which are anyways fighting it out amongst themselves."

Though there have been instances when 4-5 films released on the same day, more often than not only one, or maximum two such films were notable while rest were mainly filler releases. However most of the aforementioned films have reputed names which means such clash would be first of it's kinds.

As of now, none of the filmmakers are willing to budge from their stand. When contacted, Kumar Taurani (Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story), Amit Chandra (Kismet Love Paisa Dilli) and Vikram Bhatt (1920 - Evil Returns) made the same statement which read, "We are not changing plans for the film. 5th October is final."

On the other hand Preity Zinta too confirms that her Ishkq In Paris would be arriving on the same day. In fact promo of her film is all set to be launched on 9th August. Ditto for English Vinglish where the makers have re-emphasized that there won't be any change in plans.

The source adds, "It is impossible though that there would be such deadly five way clash. At least 2-3 films would have to be moved ahead. However the film that would gain most is Heroine as there would be no competition whatsoever for it now."

No wonder, Kareena and Madhur Bhandarkar can be seen smiling ear to ear.

Logical decision...

Kareena,Sridevi,Preity...most of the people, especially the youngsters will obviously go for a Kareena movie.

However,I feel like all these films including Heroine will bomb.😕

What's special about the Oct 5 date? I think Kareena's, PZ's and Sridevi's movies should be spaced out as they all focus on the female lead. Even if Heroine is pathetic it will surely benefit like Ishaqzaade did due to no competition on its release date. Added to that will be the festive spirit during Ganapati festival which will help Heroine further.

I think Heroine will still do better than the rest simply out of audience curiosity. If there will be competition, it will be between Kareena and Sridevi. Lots of people seem interested in Sridevi's comeback.

Sridevi's film actually premiers internationally at Toronto film festival in the first or second week of september. So she is bound to get some reviews out before heroine's release. Unless the producers can ask the indian reporters to keep quiet. But it is really difficult when foreign press will also review the movie.

Also the music launch for EV and the trailer is going to be released on monday, Sridevi's b'day.
