Nandish Sandhu became a household name with his portrayal of Veer in the popular show Uttaran and now he is back to the drawing rooms of millions through his new show. After having tied the nuptial knot with his long-time girlfriend Rashmi Desai, model-turned-actor Nandish, who left Uttaran, has now made his comeback on the small screen with the serial,Phir Subah Hogi.
While the show is not new, Nandish is a new entry in the serial as he is a replacement for actor Anuj Sachdeva
, who was earlier essaying the role of Thakur Aditya in the serial. Ask Nandish about coming in as a replacement and he says, "There is a certain amount of baggage when a character is already established in the serial and you need to come into his shoes, but I feel that the audiences shouldn't feel the jerk with the coming of a new actor. My job is to shape the character now and though there are certain limitations, I will soon steer the character to a different level."
In his previous serial too, Nandish played the role of a Thakur and even in Phir Subah Hogi,
he will again be seen playing a Thakur. Does he have any qualms about getting similar roles? Nandish explains, "I am open to all kind of roles, but I personally believe that college kind of shows are passe and what really attracts the audience are the serials which have a social message."
And it is the character of Thakur Aditya that Nandish says he can relate to unlike Veer. "Aditya is more practical and well-informed unlike Veer who was a romantic at heart and very simple," reasons the actor. He worked with Rashmi in the previous serial but will he miss her on the sets? "Of course, but we both know that it is virtually impossible to work together every time," laughs the actor.
There were rumours of a fallout in his marriage but dismissing everything, he says, "Married life is going very well and we both consciously didn't take up any projects after marriage and spent time with family, but after the well-deserved break, we both are back to work now."
Nandish's anti-drug campaign is going to be back in action. "I am soon going to restart the campaign which aims at spreading awareness regarding drugs," says Sandhu adding, "I read about the Anti-Narcotics Unit stalking campuses to catch young casual drug users in Mumbai and similarly, we plan to go to different cities and spread awareness because nowadays students feel that it is cool to get into drugs, which isn't therefore I want to do the most I can."
Besides acting, very few people know that Nandish is fond of photography. "Whenever I get time, I indulge in photography and essentially, I do portrait and nature photography but I really want to take out time and visit the jungles for wildlife photos," reveals Nandish.
