I don't know about love stories. But in general, when can you call something an ending? If you get something? Be it two people coming together or achieving something significant in life or whatever. IF that is, then it is a temporary happy ending. Because, if the very two ppl start fighting again then it turns tragic or when you are constantly measured up against your previous success, then again life turns sour. Life just does not freeze after walking into sunset.There is technically no happy ending per say, it's just whether you die happy/contended or not.

Sometimes you make mistakes, and sometimes such things happen which are not in your control. So, anything can happen and it is naive to think that there will be always happy endings, and equally naive to believe that only sad endings will be there. Both can happen. You never know.
