Ch3- Sparkling Stars
Khushi walked over the grass slowly, he mind drifting through various things 'How come I never even taught of Karan once during coffee' she questioned herself quietly, she wondered how she had so easily shared tales from her childhood which she hardly spoke about to anyone, 'Why am I opening up to him so easily?' she taught and then kept walking at a slow pace.
Khushi turned to look at a quiet Arnav by her side who did not seem to mind her silence at all, if it was Karan he would have thrown a thousand questions about why she did not want to talk. Arnav looked up to see her smiling at him 'Do you even know where we get ice cream here, or are we gonna just keep walking forever?' he said rubbing his freezing palms together and blowing into them, 'Ummm I think its just around that corner' Khushi smiled at his impatience and kept walking.
'Okay the chocolate one is mine the coffee one is yours' Khushi smiled and handed the ice cream to him, Arnav sighed in relief and buried his tongue into the freezing ice cream he looked up at her and said 'Go ahead and have it, only then will you know how magically ice cream blends with the cold whether', they walked over the little hills near by which were dark except for the little orange lights set up at different points and the bright moonlight and stars.
Khushi looked at him with wide eyes 'Your right, this does blend well', 'I know right' he sighed deeply and gorged the ice cream. Khushi licked the chocolate sprinkles off and almost screamed out loud when she noticed the little city below the hills, she could see lights lighting up the entire expanse below and it all looked like floating lanterns which she had only seen in movies, 'WOW' she whispered and looked down as the mist floated by below her, this was just like magic.
Arnav looked at Khushi's wide hazel eyes staring at the city below, her hair softly kissing her face and her smile widening just like her eyes, he felt his heart suddenly skip a beat and wondered why this girl seemed so different to him, he had been around many woman but he had never considered having a proper conversation with any of them, they only served one purpose for him, 'pleasure' but this girl right here she was definitely something, he liked listening to her speak, he loved talking to her and yet she was just someone he had met only today.
Khushi looked up to see Arnav look at her with a intense expression on his face, she smiled up at him and pointed at the city below 'Its beautiful isn't it?' Khushi whispered while Arnav just gazed at her and replied quietly 'Yes it is'.
They walked over each hill, the high steep ones as well as the flat ones. Arnav asked her to stop as they stood at the top of one grassy hill 'Close your eyes and lay down on your back' he said, 'Oh common just do it, you'l love what you see' he said hurriedly when she gave him a puzzled look. 'Okay' she said slowly and laid down closing her eyes, Arnav plopped on the ground and laid next to her.
'Now open them' he said softly, Khushi opened her eyes slowly to the darkness and the next moment she found herself almost go breathless, she watched speechlessly as she saw a million stars lighting up the night sky, mist drifting over her and the moon glowing gloriously, 'Its like heaven' she finally managed to say, she watched fascinated as the mist floated like smoke and the stars peeped out and sparkled as though they were smiling at her, 'I've never seen so many of them together in the sky, the city sucks' she whispered, her eyes still wide with fascination, she could not seem to get enough of the enchanting view.
'Do you believe that stars are our loved ones watching over us' Khushi suddenly whispered breaking the magical silence between them, 'Yeah maybe' Arnav said shrugging his shoulders and observing the sad smile on her face, 'That's what my mom told me when I was five, that even if she leaves she'l always be up there looking down at me', Arnav just held her hand and entwined his fingers with hers and said quietly 'I'm sure she is' .
They both lay quietly absorbing the dark sparkling sky, the magic reflecting in their wide eyes as two strangers quietly lived the magic of the skies.
