Did people watch 'Cocktail' for Diana Penty?
That's what we felt when we exited the theatre after watching the movie. While college kids raved about how sweet and simple Diana looked, middle-aged aunties animatedly spoke about her no-frills style
Critics are impressed with Deepika Padukone's mature performance and are disgusted by Saif Ali Khan's over-the-top humour in Cocktail. But audiences seem to be overlooking all of this. Their reviews revolve around the newbie Diana Penty and the way she's carrying herself in the film. Looks like people are getting all blas when it comes to Deepika's charm and the 41-year-old Saif is no longer the talk of the town. So now that Ms Penty has managed to grab eyeballs, we think that she isn't that bad either. She's definitely a notch above some of the babes who made a debut in the fairly recent past. Her thespian skills are better than Amy Jackson's and her body language is way cooler than Nargis Fakhri's.
So while we loved Ms Padukone in the movie and found Saif a tad irritating, the one person who ended up getting a thumbs up from the masses (young guys, especially) is Diana Penty. Well, all we can say is, be careful Penty, we doubt if Deeps will allow you to steal her thunder the next time around.
