I didn't really do a great job of explaining this, but this is a classic tale of not communicating.

Since I wrote it in K's perspective, we all know how she feels and why she does what she does, but with Arnav, I thought he had always had the feelings for K, but at first he tried to deny it by going out with other girls, lest it ruin their friendship. And when he did, and K acted like she didn't care, other than telling him off for being a player, he thought she didn't return his feelings...and the cycle began again.

Does that make sense? I wrote this a long time ago and I read your question 10 mins after waking up from the exhaustion of you-know-what!
