Part 2
Shiv arrived at the haveli with Mr. Rathod and Bheem Singh. They were welcomed by daadisa and Basant. They had barely sat down when the heavens opened up and it started pouring. Shiv groaned because he knew it would be a while before it stopped raining. Daadisa told them all that they were going no where and suggested that they all freshen up before lunch. Mr. Rathod and Bheem Singh gratefully accepted and left with Gehna showing them to their rooms. Shiv stayed behind to talk to daadisa about how Anandi was doing. Daadisa told him that Anandi was doing better now but she was super mad at him. Daadisa told Shiv "Jaa Shiv beta mil le usse. Manale apni bheendni ko" (Go Shiv beta meet her and you can pacify your wife). Shiv sighed and picked up his suitcase. He had some jilebis in there alongwith a duppata he liked. He hoped it would be enough to pacify his angry wife.
He entered the room Anandi was in and saw that she was asleep. He checked her to see if she had any fever and heaved a sigh of relief that she seemed normal. She did not wake up when he touched her and this alone showed how tired she was. Normally she sensed him and woke up. So he went and took a bath and slid into bed next to her. He just intended to hold her for a bit because he missed her so much but he did not realize when he slipped into a slumber.
Gehna came to check on him for lunch and knocked. When no one opened the door, she pushed it open a bit and saw both sleeping. She blushed a bit and closed the door. She went downstairs and informed daadisa that Shiv and Anandi were both fast asleep. Gehna asked daadisa if she should wake them up and Daadisa said "Baarish bade zor se hove hai. Kahin nahin ja sake. Sone de usse. Jab bhook lagegi toh khana khaa levega. Thak gaya hoga choro." (It is raining heavily. He cannot go anywhere. Let him sleep. When he gets hungry, he will come and eat. I think he is tired). Gehna invited Bheem Singh and Mr. Rathod to lunch and explained to them that Shiv had fallen asleep. Bheem Singh said "Sir toh poori raat soye nahin. Accha hua varna tabiyat bigad jaati." (Sir has not slept the whole night. It is good else he will fall sick."
Everyone smiled on hearing this. They loved Bheem Singh now because he was so loyal to Shiv and was a true well-wisher. Bheem Singh told Mr. Rathod "Sir baad mein aayenge. Hum nikalthe hai." (Sir will come later. We will leave). Daadisa told him and Mr. Rathod "Khana khaake aap log bhi so jao. Aap bhi soye nahin honge na. Beemar pad jaoge. Waise hi barsaat ka mausam hai.. Baarish tham jaayegi toh chale jaano." (Why don't you eat lunch and go to sleep. Else you will also fall ill. It is the rainy season. Once the rain stops you can leave.) Basant and Bhairon reiterated that and Bheem Sigh agreed. They all had a wonderful lunch and Bheem Singh and Mr. Rathod went off the take a nap.
A few hours later Anandi stirred. She felt the warmth and utter peace that she always felt in his embrace but he was in Jaipur, maybe she was dreaming. Anandi tried to move and then realized that she was being held. She turned and looked at Shiv whose head was on the pillow next to hers. He was fast asleep. He looked so cute when he was asleep - almost like a little boy. She always felt at peace and the feeling of being home when he held her. It made her feel secure, loved and protected. She smiled at the train of her thoughts and then frowned when she remembered that he had left her here and gone off on the trip. He had made daadisa take her phone away. When had he returned, she wondered. She got up and tried to leave. Shiv tightened his hold and her and mumbled something inaudible and went back to sleep. Anandi slowly removed his arms from around her and got it. She turned to see Shiv still asleep and realized he must be very tired else he would have woken up. Anandi stood up carefully to see if she was still dizzy and realized that she was not. She felt much better and completely rested. She carefully tiptoed out of the room not wanting to wake her sleeping husband.
She went into the kitchen and found Sumitra and Gehna making snacks. The minute she saw her, Sumitra came running to see if Anandi had a fever. Anandi told her mother she was fine. Anandi asked for something to eat and Sumitra gave her some khichdi. As she was eating the khichdi she asked if Shiv had anything to eat and Gehna told her that he had fallen asleep. Anandi pushed away the food and Gehna reminded her that if she did not eat, Shiv would threaten to go on a hunger strike like he did last time. Anandi smiled and carried on eating. She knew her husband well enough to realize that he could very well carry out the threat and she did not want him going hungry because of her. She volunteered to help with the snacks saying that she was fine, but Sumitra and Gehna would have none of it. Instead they ordered her to sit and eat the khichdi quietly. Anandi protested but then Sumitra asked her "Apni maa ki baat na maane gi laado?" (Will you not listen to your mother ladoo). Anandi gave in but told them she would sit and eat the khichdi while talking to them. Sumitra smiled and told her that would be fine. So Anandi sat in a chair just outside the kitchen eating her khichdi and talking to them. This is how daadisa found her when she came back from her nap.
Anandi stood up on seeing Daadisa and Daadisa immediately checked Anandi to see if she had any fever. She made Anandi sit down and pulled a chair and sat down herself. Sumitra offered her some snacks and Daadisa refused. She said she will eat it with chai. Just then Bhairon and Basant came in from outside and they also enquired about Anandi's health. Daadisa suggested they all have tea together. Just as they sat down they saw Bheem Singh and Mr. Rathod coming down and invited them too. Everyone finished their tea and Shiv was still sleeping. Bheem Singh recommended to Mr. Rathod that he would show him around. Mr. Rathod accepted and they got ready to leave.
